The finale for âFarmer Wants a Wifeâ Season 3 aired on May 22 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX, and fans finally found out who Colton Hendricks, Matt Warren, John Sansone, and Jay Woods chose. Predicting the outcome was challenging, and there were a few surprises, including the woman John picked to build his future with.
His choices were between Claire Dirette and Lily Ayres. Viewers may have thought Lily was a better pick because John and Claireâs lifestyles differ greatly. But who did he pick? Spoilers are ahead.
Farmer John Sansone & Claire Dirette Are Very Different
John is a 25-year-old soy, corn, and wheat farmer from St. Louis, Missouri. In the finale, he picked Claire, an unexpected move for some fans, as John had previously expressed his views on having a traditional family dynamic, where his wife stays home and cares for their children while he works.
This initially gave Claireâs mom pause, and she raised her concerns in a confessional. âI am surprised just because I can’t imagine her not working. Claire never said, âWhen I grow up, I want to be a stay-at-home mom.â That’s never been anything that sheâs said,â she said, People reports.
The couple also acknowledged their difference in an interview published on May 22. John told Us Weekly that he saw these differences as a âvery beneficial thing.â He continued, âPersonally, Iâm not a big fan of echo chambers. I canât stand them. I gotta get away from them. So, I think itâs pretty interesting and fun to go through this with somebody who has a different outlook on certain things in life.â
The issue Claireâs mom raised about her giving up her career was something that Claire discussed in her interview with Us Weekly. She told the publication that she was not surprised by Johnâs views and was also not âimmediately, adamantly againstâ them.
She continued, âIâm happy to learn from him, and I think he learns from me. And thatâs one really strong point we have is our ability to communicate. So any difference or problem that weâve had, weâve been able to talk through. And I think that I would be surprised if there was something that we couldnât figure out and talk through in the future.â
Farmer John Sansone Reveals How His Relationship Progressed
âClaire and Lily and I, leading up to [the final decision], had been knowing what this [show] was and knowing what we were all in for,â John told Us Weekly. âI was trying to keep the camaraderie as strong as possible throughout it. I wouldâve been shocked if Lily or Claire in a different situation had just blown up on me.â
Although Claire was Johnâs final choice, the farmer admitted that it wasnât love at first sight and remarked that he âdidnât have a first impression of Claire personally at all.â But that changed as the show continued and they became more comfortable around the cameras. âThatâs when I think I really started to like Claire and really started to get along with her into a level that would stem to a relationship,â he said.
