Sarah Ferguson has reportedly been axed from appearances on ITV’s Loose Women and This Morning, after the latest development in Prince Andrew’s fall from grace.
The former Duchess of York, 66, had become a regular fixture on the broadcaster’s daytime schedule and is said to have been ‘adored’ by the top brass at ITV.
But her ex-husband Prince Andrew has faced increased scrutiny over his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Following the posthumous publication of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir earlier this month, the prince gave up his official titles.
ITV bosses have now reportedly confirmed that the former Duchess of York will no longer appear on their shows, according to the Daily Mail.
An insider told the publication: ‘Fergie won’t be appearing on ITV again, there is nothing in the pipeline for her.
‘There was once such high hopes for her, she appeared on This Morning as a guest presenter and contributor, as well as Loose Women.
‘Fergie did a lot with ITV for a time and was always part of the gang. She was very much part of the plans at ITV but no more.’
The source also claimed to the publication that she had been ‘very likeable’ to viewers tuning in and had been praised by the higher-ups for her ‘relatable’ nature.
Ferguson maintains a close relationship with her ex-husband and still lives with him at Royal Lodge, the prince’s private home in the grounds of Windsor Castle. She has also been dragged into the swirling Epstein allegations.
The Duchess of York was fired from her position as patron for a children’s hospice after calling paedophile Jeffrey Epstein a ‘supreme friend’ in an email months after publicly distancing herself from him.
The email was reportedly sent in response to an interview the duchess gave, where she apologised for having accepted £15,000 from Epstein to pay off debts.
Children’s hospice Julia’s House said in a statement last week: ‘Following the information shared this weekend on the Duchess of York’s correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein, Julia’s House has taken the decision that it would be inappropriate for her to continue as a patron of the charity.
‘We have advised the Duchess of York of this decision and thank her for her past support.’
A spokesperson for the duchess at the time said she was not commenting on the charities’ decisions to end their links with her.
Metro contacted ITV and Sarah Ferguson’s representatives for comment.
