Fergie is one proud mama!
The former Black Eyed Peas vocalist gave fans a rare glimpse at her and Josh Duhamel’s son, Axl Jack Duhamel, in honor of his 12th birthday.
On Friday, August 29, Fergie took to Instagram and proudly shared photos of her son through the years. The 50-year-old singer can’t help but get emotional as she marked Axl’s special day.
One throwback photo captures little Axl adorably trying to lift a barbell, while another shows him dressed up in a racer costume.
Other pictures show Fergie and Duhamel’s son looking all grown up, playing soccer, holding a bodyboard, and smiling with a birthday cake.
“Axl Jack, the preteen,” Fergie wrote. “I am so proud to see how independent youâre becoming and what a kind human you are. Discovering everything youâre into and watching you grow brings such joy. I feel so lucky to be your mom.”
Josh Duhamel’s Sweet Tribute for Son
Meanwhile, Duhamel also shared a tribute for the birthday boy. The actor took to Instagram and greeted his and Fergie’s son on his special day.
Duhamel shared several photos and videos of Axl, enjoying a fun day at Legoland.
“Happy 12th birthday to my buddy boy Axl Jack,” the actor wrote. “We had a blast at Legoland today. Thank you for making these the best 12 years of my life, kid. I love you.”
Previously, Duhamel talked about the realities of raising an almost-teenager. Speaking with PEOPLE, he revealed that he’s now preparing for the moment when Axl gets his learner’s permit.
“I’m going to be an anxious mess, I mean, like every parent,” Duhamel admitted. “I’m guessing my mother was an anxious mess. I just didn’t know about it.”
The actor added that he’s already getting Axl familiarized with the highs and lows that come with driving.
“I’m already kind of training him. I’ll put him in my lap and teach him, ‘Okay, this is what you do, and this is what you look for, this is what you’ve got to scan,’ just to start getting him accustomed to what it takes to actually handle the responsibility of being a driver,” Duhamel explained. “I want to get that in his head as soon as possible.”
Fergie & Duhamel’s Co-Parenting Success
Fergie and Duhamel parted ways in 2017, but that doesn’t stop them from maintaining a friendly relationship. In 2018, Fergie called Duhamel “a good co-parenting partner.”
“We’re all love and we love each other,” the singer told Entertainment Tonight. “We’re all cool and just a family.”
Josh also spoke highly of Fergie, calling her an “amazing woman.”
“She’s taken Audra (his current wife) in. And it could be much worse. That’s the thing, you never know how these things are gonna go,” Duhamel pointed out. “Thankfully, we have a really civil situation.”
