Swerve Strickland was left in tears on AEW Dynamite last night when his bitter rival ‘Hangman’ Adam Page set fire to his childhood home.

The 33-year-old former world champion – who worked for WWE as Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott before joining All Elite Wrestling in 2022 – shared a heartwarming post on Wednesday saying he’d bought the property after signing a new deal with AEW.

The Tacoma, Washington native travelled a lot as a child due to his dad’s career in the military, and at one point the bank foreclosed their house due to financial struggles.

He said that ever since that day, he was determined to ‘buy back this property’, as he showed off the home to his followers in an emotional video.

Later that night, he was in the ring for a contract signing with Hangman only for him to appear on screen in the very same house.

The pair have taken things to intense levels in the past including Hangman drinking Swerve’s blood, but the former dialed this up as he sat in an armchair on the lawn and set the building on fire.

Swerve was brought to his knees screaming and crying in the ring, watching the property burn to the ground.

It’s not known for sure if the house actually has the sentimental value to Swerve, or if it was just bought by AEW as part of a storyline.

However, he certainly had fans convinced earlier in the day as he reflected on his childhood memories in the property.

He said: ‘This place meant a lot to me. I remember the parties my mom used to throw, me and my mom and my dad. Family reunions, cookouts, family fights, family celebrations, all of it.

‘All that happened right here. This is where I learned to take my first couple steps. My little sister was born. Things got a little tough.

‘Property got foreclosed on and we couldn’t get it back. Had to move out altogether. I’ll never forget the look on my mom’s face that day when we had to move.’

He then recounted the ‘promise’ he made to himself, which he claimed all built up to buying the property.

He said: ‘No matter what I was going to do, what I was going to pursue in life, I was going to work my hardest. Whatever passion I was going to fall into, I was going to be the best at that.

‘I was going to work my ass off. One day, become successful enough to buy back this property. As of last week, at All In in Wembley Stadium in London, I signed my All Elite Wrestling contract extension.

‘With that bonus money, I gave it to one man trustworthy enough to make the magic happen and here we are with the deed to the house.’
