Eamonn Holmes has sparked an investigation at GB News after a ‘young female producer was hit by his wheelchair’.

The former This Morning presenter, who went on to join GB News in 2022, was first spotted using a wheelchair late last year.

It came after years of ill health, first starting with a double hip replacement in 2016, before he slipped three discs in his back in 2021. He then underwent a back surgery that went ‘wrong’ in 2023, which left him needing to use a wheelchair.

However, the 65-year-old has now reportedly been caught up in an incident with a young producer involving his wheelchair.

The Mail on Sunday has reported that GB News is investigating ‘after a young female producer was left bruised when she was hit by Eamonn Holmes’ wheelchair’.

The publication said the incident unfolded as the woman was attempting to explain to an employee pushing Eamonn that the presenter could not return to the set to continue hosting his breakfast show following a toilet break, because the cameras were rolling.

Sources at GB News said, ‘tensions ran high as the woman said it wasn’t the best time for Eamonn to return to his seat’. However, there is no suggestion that he did anything wrong.

‘Eamonn gets wheeled on and off the set because his mobility is so bad. He is really struggling to move around these days so, as part of the care that GB News are giving him, he will be wheeled to the loo if he needs to go during the programme,’ one source said.

‘Only this time there was some confusion over whether or not he could go back to his seat as the cameras were going and the show was being aired live. The poor young woman was doing her job and saying that it wasn’t possible for him to go back on.

‘There were frustrations over it from some involved and the next thing the woman gets hit and she got a bruise on her leg. It has been the talk of the studio ever since.’

Soon after the woman ‘made a complaint’, which GB News’ HR department is now ‘looking into’.

Eamonn’s health woes began in 2021 when he was rushed to hospital after experiencing pain he’d ‘never felt in his life’.

He was then left needing to use a stick to walk, before his back surgery.

Last month he was then left ‘bruised, sore and embarrassed’ after falling off his chair live on air.

Around the same time Eamonn said he ‘can’t move’ anymore: ‘I can’t put on trainers, I can’t change, I can’t go to the showers, I can’t do things, I can’t stand up.’

Eamonn also recently confessed that he ‘thought he was dead’ after a fall at his home earlier this year, which saw his feet ‘fly up in the air’ after crashing onto a ‘cold, hard, slippery floor’.

He explained: ‘I was very worried about me. [I] fell on the bathroom floor and once I was down, I couldn’t get up. It was the worst bang to my head and shoulder.

The presenter is now being supported by his new girlfriend Katie Alexander, 43, following his split from wife Ruth Langsford, 65, last year.

Metro has contacted GB News and representatives for Eamonn Holmes for comment.
