
The daytime television community has lost a legend. Tristan Rogers has died at the age of 79. His last appearance on “General Hospital” was on July 17, 2025. He announced on the same day that he had been diagnosed with cancer.
According to Soap Opera Digest, the beloved actor has lost his battle. They say that his longtime manager, Meryl Soodak, has confirmed that the actor passed away on the morning of August 15, 2025, following a battle with lung cancer.
Tristan Rogers Final GH Episodes Felt Like Closure for His Character

On July 17, 2025, the character of Robert Scorpio, played brilliantly by Rogers, last popped up on the GH landscape when his daughter, Sasha Corbin, needed to escape Port Charles to ensure the safety of her infant; she landed on Scorpio’s doorstep in Paris. Those scenes facilitated the exit of Sofia Mattsson, and many speculated at the time that they could also be Tristan’s on-camera farewell.
Before that, the actor was last seen on GH back in November 2024. At that time, he was hopping on a plane and whisking the love of his life, Holly, played by Emma Samms, off to a safe location. Then, too, fans were given a beautiful moment to remember the beloved duo by.
GH posted a tribute to the beloved actor on their Instagram. The Caption read, “The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogersâ passing. Tristan has captivated our fans for more than 50 years and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio). I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time. Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace. – Frank Valentini”

In July 2025, the actor released an official statement to Deadline, confirming his illness via his spokesman.
âWhile he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family,â according to a statement by the rep. âAs they face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis, the family kindly asks for privacy and understanding. They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family. Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years. This support means more to him now than ever. Future updates will be shared if deemed appropriate by Tristan and his family.â

Rogers is survived by his wife, Teresa Parkerton, and their children, Sarah and Cale, plus his grandchildren.
