If you think George Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, are relationship goals, that’s totally understandable. They’re rich, they’re gorgeous and, apparently, they get along incredibly well. Indeed, George has recently made a surprising claim about his marriage that might make you even more envious of their relationship. The star has said that he and his spouse never fight and likely never will for one particular reason.
“Well, when youâre younger, you want to be right about everything, you know. ‘Donât paint that color on the wall,’” George told CBS Newsâ Seth Doane while offering up an example of something that might spark an argument between spouses.
“And you know, Amal and I â everybody gets ticked off when I say it â but weâve never had a fight. We never had an argument,” he said.
He explained why that is, saying, “And some of it is because Iâm at this point in life where if she wants to paint the wall red, I donât care.”
George Doesn’t Care About Certain Things
GettyGeorge also explained why certain things don’t get to him anymore, which helps to avoid seemingly unnecessary fights.
“You get to a point in life where you just go, âWhy would that be a discussion or an argument?â We have a really amazing relationship because weâre also so supportive of each other that itâs like, I donât care,” he said.
Granted, he did note that things would have been different when he was younger.
He explained, “I think I would have found things to, you know, stick my chest out about that I can go now, ‘It doesnât matter, I donât care.’”
George Was ‘Swept Off [His] Feet’ When He Met Amal
GettyThe fact that George and Amal don’t fight isn’t the first thing he’s revealed about their relationship. In fact, he’s admitted that they fell in love pretty darn quickly, which was a surprise to everyone.
“The truth was I met this amazing woman and she took my breath away,” George told co-hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett of the Smartless Podcast. “She was brilliant and funny and beautiful and kind.”
He added, “I was sort of swept off my feet.”
âWe got engaged after a few months and got married within the first year that we met,” he continued. “It surprised me more than probably anybody else in the world â and everybody else was pretty surprised!â
