It’s been 18 years since we last saw George Clooney step into the role of Danny Ocean, and it seems he’s ready to get the group of thieves on a new job. The actor told E! News in a recent interview that “Ocean’s 14” is slowly coming together.
âWe just got the budget approved at Warner Bros. and weâre trying to set up,â Clooney said. “It’s just scheduling, so just setting a start date for us,” Clooney said. “Probably start in about nine or 10 months, shooting.”
The film will mark the fourth time the gang reunites since 2001’s “Ocean’s Eleven,” and we already know some of the names returning for the heist film.
Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Julia Roberts On Board to Return
“Ocean’s Eleven,” “Ocean’s Twelve,” and “Ocean’s Thirteen” were applauded not just for the intriguing storylines but also for the massive amount of talent the films acquired. Some of the actors, such as Bernie Mac and Carl Reiner, have sadly passed away since the last movie. Others just got busier, making it more difficult to find time when everyone is free.
“Brad [Pitt], Matt [Damon], and Don [Cheadle], and Julia [Roberts],” George Clooney said, naming off some of those participating in the film. “I had dinner last night with Julia. They’re all still really dear friends. And so the chance to work together would be fun.”
“Ocean’s Eleven” was a remake of the 1960 film starring Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. Along with Clooney, the remake included Pitt as Ocean’s partner, Damon as a pickpocket, Elliot Gould as a former casino owner, and Cheadle as a demolitions expert. Bernie Mac played a con man, Qin Shaobo was an acrobat, Reiner was a grifter, and Eddie Jemison played a surveillance expert. Last but not least, Casey Affleck and Scott Caan were the muscle. Julia Roberts played Ocean’s ex, Tess.
‘Weâre Too Old for the Jobs We Used to Do’: George Clooney Joked About Planned Plotline
Clooney has made several comments over the past few years about a fourth installment in the franchise. In December 2023, he told Uproxx that they “have a really good script for another ‘Oceans’ now.” He repeated the comment during publicity for “Wolfs” the following year, telling E! News that “everyone’s read it and ready to do it.”
The last time he spoke about it was in February of this year. âItâs like weâre all too old to do the jobs we used to be able to do,” he joked to The New York Times about the plot.
