Glen Powell Admits First Date Ended in Disaster After ‘Gruesome’ Injury

Glen Powell may be one of Hollywood’s most charming leading men today, but the “Hit Man” star says his early love life was far from smooth. On the Thursday, Sept. 25 episode of Jake Shane’s podcast “Therapuss,” Powell, 36, revealed a disastrous date story that ended with a broken nose, plenty of blood, and no chance of recovery.

Glen Powell Recalls Gruesome First Date Accident

Powell explained that as a teenager, he used to show off by doing what he described as “skateboard parkour.” “I would do this thing as a kid where I do like skateboard moves. You know where you jump off of something and kinda like spin. You know? Alright, I was not as cool. Like parkour?” he said.

That habit, however, caused chaos during one date. “So I was doing skateboard parkour, didn’t realize [my date] had followed behind me and I spun and I knocked her … I elbowed her in the face and I broke her nose,” Powell admitted.

The actor called the moment “gruesome,” saying his date was “bleeding out” and her face was “puffy.” He added, “That just sort of really summed up my love life for the next like while.”

When Shane asked whether Powell was able to recover from such a big blunder, the “Chad Powers” star laughed it off, admitting there was no way to fix the situation. “No, no, no. I mean there’s nothing to do. You ruined it in so many ways. She’s, like, trying to play it off and it was, like, really not good.”

Though he’s now known as one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors, Powell joked that his painful date-night disaster set the tone for many years of awkward romance.

Despite his rocky start, Powell went on to date some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Nina Dobrev, Renee Bargh, and model Gigi Paris, whom he split from in 2023.

Powell was also the subject of romance rumors with his “Anyone But You” costar Sydney Sweeney, though at the time he was still with Paris.

People later confirmed the couple ended their three-year relationship in April 2023. A source noted their relationship had been “on the rocks,” with his filming schedule creating strain.

Following their breakup, Powell admitted that the timing made his “Anyone But You” promotional tour more difficult. “The only reason it made things harder for me to lean into that stuff was that I was going through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour,” he told reporters.

Recently, Powell has sparked new romance chatter after being spotted out with influencer Olivia Jade Giannulli, daughter of Lori Loughlin.

According to DeuxMoi, Powell and Giannulli were seen dining at Il Cantinori in New York City on Aug. 31, with Loughlin also in attendance. The pair were later spotted at Treasure Club and reportedly left together around 2 a.m.
