Goodbyes are never easy, but some people turn them into unforgettable moments of grace and nostalgia. The Good Morning America team bid adieu to their iconic Times Square studio, and meteorologist Ginger Zee did it in signature style.
On Friday, June 13, the ABC morning show aired its final broadcast from the Times Square location before officially moving to the Walt Disney Companyâs NYC headquarters at 7 Hudson Square.
Full-Circle Fashion Moment
For the big send-off, Ginger Zee, 44, brought back a meaningful piece from her wardrobe: a 13-year-old dress sheâs had since she first started at GMA.
Posting side-by-side photos of herself in the same colorblock dressâonce in 2012, and now in 2025âGinger Zee shared the sentimental moment with fans.
âLeft 2012, Right today,â she wrote in the caption. âI started here in fall 2011. But this summer dress has been with me the whole time. Farewell Times Square and looking forward to new memories in Hudson Square – this dress is coming with með #nonewclothes @samwnek.â
Packing Up and Moving On
After wrapping up her final weather report in Times Square, Zee traded her dress for comfy clothes and got to work packing up her dressing room. âBye bye to my dressing room,â she posted on her Instagram Stories.
The June 13 broadcast officially marked the end of a 26-year run in the iconic Times Square studio. GMA moved into that space in 1999, after previously filming at ABC News headquarters since its debut in 1975.
Alicia Keys Joins the Final Show
To help the show go out with a bang, Alicia Keys made a guest appearance, joined by the cast of her Broadway show Hellâs Kitchen. Together, they performed a powerhouse medley of Keysâ hits âGirl on Fireâ and âNo One.â âItâs a celebration,â Keys said on-air, as co-anchor Lara Spencer called the moment GMAâs âlast bowâ at Times Square.
Zee’s Mental Health Journey
Ginger Zeeâs time on GMA has been filled with personal highs and powerful moments of vulnerability. She and her husband, Ben Aaron, became parents to two sonsâAdrian, 9, and Miles, 7.
Sheâs also opened up about her mental health journey, including a battle with depression that she first shared publicly in 2017.
In a past interview with PEOPLE, Zee revealed she was suicidal at 21, and checked into a mental health facility just 10 days before making the big move to NYC for her GMA job.
âI was in this place where I knew my personal life could affect this outstanding job and opportunity that I had,â she said. âFor the first time in a long time, I wanted to live and I knew that.â
It was there that she met the therapist who would change her lifeâand with whom she still works today. Their sessions provided her with the tools not only to survive but also to thrive in both her personal life and high-pressure career.
