Gogglebox star Daniel Lustig has opened up about his split from Stephen Webb, and the reason behind it.
Earlier this year, the couple shocked fans announcing they were parting ways, but have continued to share updates on social media proving they’re still on good terms.
The pair had been married for six years, and together for 11, before confirming their split in April.
‘It’s a really good innings,’ Daniel, 48, said on the My Dirty Laundry podcast.
‘You really get to know someone and yourself, and it was really good for a really long time, and then it kind of petered off, and then we kind of decided the best thing was to end as friends.
‘We’re work colleagues, and partners at work as well, and our basis of our relationship has always been friendship as well.’
He went on to confirm that they’d split ten months ago and are still living together but are in the process of selling their flat.

‘But actually, we get on so well. We’ve gotten on better now than we did when we were together,’ he continued.
‘It has worked out for us,’ he added.
Opening up more about their split, Daniel shared: ‘People always said we were polar opposites, we were like chalk and cheese.
‘And I think it gets to that point, we get to a certain age and you realise that you are so different, and your foundations are different.
‘For us, it was just wise to separate.’

He added that he’s not started dating yet but is open to it ‘at some point’, and is ‘100% backing’ Stephen on his rumoured Celebs Go Dating stint.
Stephen, 52, was due to appear on Dancing On Ice earlier this year, but was forced to drop out after breaking his ankle during training.
Daniel and Stephen appeared on Gogglebox together since 2019, but quit the Channel 4 programme last year, saying they wanted to ‘explore other opportunities’.

Stephen was one of the original stars of the show, joining Gogglebox for season one in 2013, with his former partner Christopher Steed.
After Christopher left the series in 2017, Stephen’s mother Pat Webb took his place from series 10 to 12, before Daniel joined him from series 13.
Speaking of his stint on Gogglebox, Daniel added it was ‘so lovely to do it for four years’ but he’s interested in ‘trying some different stuff now’.
