Hailey Bieber has opened up about enduring a difficult birth with her son, revealing that she thought she could die in the delivery room.

The Rhode founder welcomed her first child with husband Justin Bieber last August, unveiling the first photo of baby Jack Blues Bieber on Instagram shortly after.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2018, have yet to share pictures of their little one’s face on social media, and have remained fiercely private over him.

In a candid new interview, the 28-year-old spoke about motherhood and shed light on her traumatic first few hours with her son.

‘Giving birth was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,’ she declared to Vogue Magazine, sharing that she spent her entire pregnancy preparing for the tot’s arrival.

However, things took a turn at the 39-week mark when Hailey started leaking amniotic fluid and had to be induced.

Detailing the birth, she explained that doctors were forced to use a Foley balloon, a device inserted into the uterus and filled with saline to get her cervix to dilate – combined with Pitocin to bring on contractions.

‘That s**t was so crazy,’ the model insisted. ‘That was not fun. They broke my water. I went into labor and I labored for a few hours. No epidural, nothing.’

After Jack’s arrival, Hailey was still bleeding and she revealed that the thought ‘crossed her mind’ that she could die in that moment when battling postpartum hemorrhage.

‘I trust my doctor with my life,’ she continued. ‘And so I had peace that I knew she would never let anything happen to me. But I was bleeding really badly, and people die, and the thought crosses your mind.’

Her medical team took baby Jack away while trying tirelessly to get her blood to clot – but nothing was working.

The outlet reports that, at one point, they inserted a painful vacuum that ‘provokes uterine contractions’ and Hailey endured this for hours until she was finally cleared to hold her newborn.

This wasn’t the end of her struggles and, as a new mom, the fashionista contended with postpartum body dysmorphia and felt the ‘high highs and low lows’ of her hormones.

Those times can be hard enough, but Hailey was going through it under the microscope of the public eye, juggling life with a newborn and constant speculation about her marriage to Justin.

The pair dated briefly around 10 years ago, before reuniting in a whirlwind relationship in 2018 – secretly tying the knot that same year.

They held a second ceremony in 2019, but have faced intense scrutiny throughout the course of their romance.

This flared up again in recent months, with widespread concern from fans for the Baby singer’s wellbeing.

Unpacking the public reaction, at a time when the lovebirds are also trying to come to terms with having a newborn, Hailey admitted that it has been a ‘mindf**k’.

‘Being postpartum is the most sensitive time I’ve ever gone through in my life, and learning a new version of myself is very difficult,’ she added.

‘And to be doing that all the while going on the internet every day and people being like, They’re getting divorced and They’re this and They’re not happy: It is such a mindf**k. I cannot even begin to explain it. It’s a crazy life to live.’

Despite this, she insisted that she has no regrets about her family, and is hopeful that she and Justin can give baby Jack a sibling at one point – but vowed that she is taking this ‘a kid at a time’.
