Harry Potter fans have unearthed an old clip of the new Hermione Granger star Arabella Stanton performing a West End number.
The lucky young’un has emerged on top of a casting process that saw tens of thousands of kids throw their name into the sorting hat, all hoping to be part of the trio fronting HBO’s new adaptation.
Arabella was confirmed as know-it-all Hermione in an HBO announcement yesterday, alongside Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
Arabella already has an impressive acting resume for someone so young, having starred in the West End musical production of Matilda.
Harry Potter fans have now unearthed an old clip of Arabella in the role, during a performance on The One Show on the BBC back in March 2024.
The video, which has now amassed over 26,000 views on YouTube, sees Arabella perform the Tim Minchin track ‘When I Grow Up’, which was the first song written for the musical.

The special episode of The One Show aired on World Book Day to celebrate the final of the children’s writing competition BBC 500 Words.
It was a star-studded affair hosted at Buckingham Palace, with those in attendance including Tom Hiddleston, Sir Lenny Henry and Queen Camilla.
The video sees Arabella start the number, walking down the central aisle in a pin-striped blue dress towards the stage where her uniformed cast members await for the singing, dancing performance.
YouTube viewers and Potter fans were impressed with the new Hermione star’s impressive pipes, with @joaopaulosousaleandro3416 commenting: ‘Well done Ms Granger. 10 points for Gryffindor.’
@RavenStarMedia happily chimed in, writing: ‘From this alone I can tell she’s going to be an amazing Hermione,’ while @flowerinantarctica enthusiastically added: ‘SHE WAS PERFECTLY CAST AS HERMIONE.’
‘I can actually see her as Hermione!!’ added @rosesarered18. ‘Nice casting.’
In what was a very positive comments section, @Bluerius added: ‘And now, she’s the new Hermione Granger. Congrats, Arabella!!! New generation have a great idol.’
@rishikeshp5322 added: ‘Ok I was skeptical at first but they really nailed with this casting.’
The Harry Potter TV show will air on HBO in 2026.
