It was announced on Instagram on June 5 that Felton would be joining the cast of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” on Broadway. A short video clip shows him looking cool with his signature platinum blond hair as he puts on rings and takes out his wand. In the caption, the actor shared his thoughts, writing, “Guess who’s back. The announcement has been met with great excitement. It marks the first time Felton will be playing Draco Malfoy in 15 years. Reactions to the post include, “Oh my Dumbledore what is happening… this is incredible,” and “We NEED him as Lucius Malfoy in the News Harry Potter Series. There’s no one better than him for that character.”

Felton’s inclusion in the Broadway show will run for 19 weeks, starting on November 11, 2025, and ending on March 22, 2026, at the Lyric Theatre in New York City.

What Has Tom Felton Said About Rejoining the ‘Harry Potter’ Universe?

Felton discussed his decision to join the Broadway show in an interview with Today on June 5.
“It’s very much a pinch-me situation,” Felton told Today. “I keep thinking I’m dreaming. I let go of that character 16 years ago, and now I get to step back into his shoes, as a father this time, in a new story.”

Felton played the role of Draco Malfoy in the original films, alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. He was just 12 years old when he first signed on as Draco. And now, at 37, his character will be different.

“The play is such an independent story from the Potter films that I grew up with,” he said. “We start 19 years later … now we’re no longer children. We actually are the parents. So as much as it is reprising an old role for me, it’s very much treading into new, unfamiliar territory. I know him quite well as a kid. I don’t know him that well as an adult. So that’s the exciting challenge ahead for me.”

This is not the only time Felton has expressed his excitement about being recast as Draco. “Being a part of the ‘Harry Potter’ films has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Felton said, Variety reports. “Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in ‘Cursed Child’ this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes.” Now all that’s left is to be redirected to the ticket sales page, right?!
