As the second season of Netflix series Nobody Wants This hits number one in the charts not all fans are impressed.

The show was an unexpected standout among audiences when it came out last year for its charming depcition of a romance between hot but complicated Rabbi Noah (Adam Brody) and sex and relationships podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) as they navigate an interfaith relationship.

After landing a strong 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season, the show was promptly renewed with fans buzzing to see how this love story would develop.

Since all 10 episodes of season two arrived, it has rapidly shot up the charts but fans have shared their disappointment at the new episodes.

In the new season creator Erin Foster wanted to explore how their relationship deepens after fighting to be together but several viewers haven’t enjoyed the direction it took.

The show ‘lacks the charm and humor of season one’ RT user BM wrote.

‘Season 2 is clearly about the relationship becoming real but it felt like it pushed some of the drama artificially.

‘There were some missed opportunities with the story and it didn’t bring the viewer along emotionally. Sadly the chemistry of the leads completely fizzled by the end of the season-so there was no emotional payoff at the end,’ Aye E shared.

‘Season two is painful to watch,’ Vicki Z declared.

Nee K reflected that the show ‘didn’t have the same magic’ as the first while X user marivb018 shared: ‘Just binge watched all the episodes and it was just okay, didn’t even come close to season one.’

What did Metro’s Laura Harman think of season 2?

Laura Harman reviewed the second season of Nobody Wants This, here’s what she thought…

‘To me, the first series was as if the concept of Fleabag season 2 was given an American makeover with a softer tone, a load of hot, glossy actors, and powerhouses Adam Brody and Kristen Bell to lead.

After a moving season two finale, with a romantic climax that saw Noah (Brody) choose Joanne (Bell) over his dream to become Head Rabbi of his temple, the series delves into the couple’s new normal as they work on being a unit. But the storytelling feels clunky.’

Although not everyone was let down by season two, which also starred Adam’s wife and Gossip Girl icon Leighton Meester as well.

One user _samepaige_ wrote: ‘Still a very breezy, funny, and romantic watch dealing with the struggles of navigating adult relationships which is very refreshing!’

‘I need season 3 immediately,’ saxmsvault echoed.

‘Please please let there be a season 3 and beyond…that was soo good,’ @stella_kimani said.

‘I loved Nobody Wants This season 2, is one of my favorite shows. I need a lot of more seasons,’ Patricia Alejandra echoed.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Foster – whose series is partially inspired by her own life – said the show is ‘meant to feel warm and there are messages that I’m trying to get across, but they’re really about love, about relationships, finding common ground and pushing yourself to learn how to be with the kind of person you say you want to be with.’

As for whether it will return for a thrid round, it remains to be seen with Foster simply saying she ‘hopes so’.

Nobody Wants This seasons one and two are now streaming on Netflix.
