Film fans will be face-to-face with greatness for the foreseeable as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has confirmed his future acting plans.
He is one of the world’s highest-paid and highest-grossing actors, making waves onscreen in the likes of The Mummy Returns, two Jumanji films, and the Fast & Furious franchise.
One of his most recognisable roles is that of Maui in hit Disney animated flick Moana, a role he returns to this month in the film’s sequel.
But fans don’t have to worry about the acting sensation’s final curtain call any time soon as Johnson confirmed he ‘wouldn’t be content’ if the slated live-action Moana adaptation was the last role he held.
Speaking to Metro on the red carpet at Moana 2’s London premiere, he said: ‘It’s hard as s**t.
‘I think I wouldn’t be content because there’s just more and I know there’s more.

‘That was the whole idea I think of being able to disappear and what my gut has been gnawing at me for the past couple of years of wanting more and wanting to challenge myself.’
Though he said he would not be satisfied, the actor said he would be ‘grateful’ if Maui was his last role as his grandfather ‘largely inspired’ the character.
‘We just had our world premiere in Hawaii,’ he continued. ‘He was buried in Hawaii. My ancestors are buried there too.’
He went on to stress the importance of the cultural representation Moana and Maui have offered: ‘My daughters – I have three daughters, I’m a girl dad of all ages from big to little – they see themselves in Moana and it’s been very cool.
‘You go around the world and you see that all these little girls and boys will see themselves in Moana regardless of their colour. It’s such a cool thing.
‘That’s powerful they can see themselves in Maui. So I got lucky.’
The former wrestling star previously spoke about ‘disappearing’ into the role of Mark Kerr in the upcoming A24 biopic about his life, The Smashing Machine.
Speaking to GQ, he said he wanted to challenge himself like never before and ‘disappear into a character’, something the role allowed him.

‘The material is deeper, it allows me to sink my teeth into something deeper, richer.’ he continued.
The film, which also stars Emily Blunt as Kerr’s wife Dawn Staples, follows the mixed martial artist in the year 2000 as he struggles with addiction, issues in his home life, and the pressures of competition.
Before then, however, Moana fans can enjoy Johnson in the film’s sequel which will be released on November 29.
Much of the plot is still shrouded in secrecy, but a synopsis for the film teases another perilous adventure for the titular hero.
It reads: ‘After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.’
If that isn’t enough, Johnson’s latest Christmas film, Red One, is in cinemas now to get you in the festive spirit.
Also starring Chris Evans, Kiernan Shipka, and Lucy Liu, the film follows a former E.L.F. operative who joins forces with the world’s most accomplished tracker to hunt down Santa Claus after he is kidnapped.
Moana 2 is in cinemas from November 29.
