Tim Curry

“Home Alone 2” and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” icon Tim Curry made a rare public appearance on Thursday, May 15. The 79-year-old actor was seen in Los Angeles accompanied by his carer after years away from the spotlight.

In the photos obtained by DailyMail, Curry was seen leaving Gelson’s supermarket while being pushed in a wheelchair. The “It” star kept it casual in a red long-sleeve shirt, black pants, and matching red sneakers. He completed the look with dark sunglasses, fitting for the sun-soaked afternoon outing.

Curry’s latest appearance may come as a surprise to some, as the actor has remained relatively private about his condition over the years. In 2012, the veteran actor suffered a stroke after collapsing at his home in California. The medical emergency left him partially paralyzed on one side and affected his speech, prompting a long road to recovery.

Following the life-changing stroke, which he suffered at 66 years old, Curry remained largely out of the public eye.

In April, Curry told PEOPLE that he will publish his first memoir, “Vagabond.” The book will highlight his childhood and college years, as well as his first on-stage gig. He’ll also tackle the nuance of alternating between television, film, and stage acting.

Curry’s memoir is set to launch on October 7, 2025, and is now available for pre-order.

Fans Rally Around Curry

Curry’s latest outing sparked an outpouring of support online. Fans sent their heartfelt comments, expressing their admiration for the actor.

One user commented, “I actually didn’t know this. Such a good actor. May he still have quality of life in some way.”

Another chimed in, “I had no idea as this has been kept relatively quiet. Very sad and a tragic reminder how our lives can be changed so dramatically in an instant.”

One fan wrote, “This man is responsible for my fear of clowns, my love of musicals. And ‘Home Alone 2’ being one of my favorite films. Truly so sad,” while another said, “This news really took the wind out of my sails. All the very best, Mr. Curry.”

Some of Curry’s notable roles include Dr. Frank N Furter in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” Mr. Hector in “Home Alone 2,” and Pennywise in the horror mini-series “It.”

In 2015, Curry was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 19th annual Actors Fund Tony Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles.
