An action movie fronted by Vin Diesel has been soaring up the Netflix charts for weeks, despite being branded a ‘waste of film’ by unimpressed fans.
Bloodshot was released in 2020, and followed a soldier who was killed in action, before an organization brought him back to life and gave him superpowers, with the intention of using him as a weapon.
The Fast and Furious icon led the way in the flick, based on the Valiant Comics character of the same name, alongside Outlander’s Sam Heughan, Eiza Gonzalez, Guy Pearce, Lamorne Morris and Talulah Riley.
Although it hit the big screen five years ago, it has had a resurgence on the streaming platform and spent five weeks in the Netflix top 10 chart – it has been viewed more than 3.1million times in the last seven days, with over 5.6million hours watched.
Despite the success, Bloodshot has divided many as it currently has a 32% Rotten Tomatoes score, compared to a 78% ranking from the audience.

While some viewers branded it ‘pretty entertaining’, many more have suggested that the movie was ‘horribly done’ and a huge ‘disappointment’.

Georgan G fumed: ‘A waste of film. If you don’t require a plot, only explosions & fighting, this might be for you. I enjoy a good action film but this is in no way watchable.’
‘Honestly one of the worst movies I’ve seen in ages..,’ Keith O agreed.
Emilliano S said: ‘It was ok. Like a Terminator wannabe.’
Brandon Avery of Just My Opinion commented: ‘A hot piece of garbage that won’t be remembered!’

Chris Klimek penned: ‘An instantly forgettable mid-budget affair that relies on heavy dollops of CGI that would’ve looked cut-rate even in the early ’90s…’
‘With Bloodshot, Diesel heads back to theaters with his worst starring role in years, an action blockbuster that attempts too much and achieves too little,’ Justin Jones of CBR added.
The official synopsis reads: ‘A dead soldier is resurrected with new biotechnology and embarks on a mission of revenge in this sci-fi action drama based on the comic book series.’
Bloodshot was initially poised to set up a new comic book franchise but plans appear to have stalled after the original film premiered during Covid.

‘I think [Bloodshot] was very successful in that respect, a lot of people saw it and it did very well in the post-release rollout but you can’t use the same evaluation process, pre-COVID, to this,’ DMG Entertainment founder and CEO Dan Mintz previously told ComicBookResources about a possible sequel.
‘[Are] Vin Diesel and all those people going to still continue? Yes, because it did so well and the response to it has been so well, it’s just that the response has been in a non-transparent environment, as opposed to a transparent environment like box office numbers.’
However, there has been no mention of a Bloodshot 2 over the last few years, with Vin instead turning his attention to ending the Fast and Furious franchise.
