<p id=”par-2_53″>Lopez has been considered for the entertainment industry’s worst honor quite a few times. <em>The Wedding Planner</em>, The<em> Boy Next Door</em>, and <em>Monster-In-Law </em>are just a few of the movies she received Worst Actress nominations for. But although she’s had 12 Razzie nominations overall, she’s only won for her infamous 2003 film <em>Gigli</em>.</p>
<p id=”par-3_58″>The project was considered a huge blow to Lopez’s and Ben Affleck’s careers, which were already under intense scrutiny because of their relationship. Whether or not <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/ben-affleck-regretted-overshadowing-gigli-relationship.html/”>their romance overshadowed the movie</a>, Razzie founder John Wilson felt <em>Gigli </em>earned its award on its own merits. Even more so than other movies that were nominated against it at the time.</p>
<p id=”par-4_80″>“But those are much better bad movies, if that makes any sense,” Wilson once said in an interview with <a href=”https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ben-jen-bomb-gigli-really-razzed/”>CBS News</a>. “If you sit through them with the right people or the right brand of liquor, they can be strangely entertaining. But I don’t care how medicated you are or what people you’re watching it with, <em>Gigli</em> is just a pain in the posterior. It’s one of those things that is, as opposed to enjoyably embarrassing, it’s just skin-crawlingly embarrassing.”</p>
<p id=”par-5_84″>But being chosen by the Razzies wasn’t always a bad thing. The ceremony offered her an apology by nominating her for <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/jennifer-lopez-could-finally-win-an-award-for-her-hustlers-performance-but-its-not-what-you-think.html/”>a Razzie Redeemer award</a>, which she earned for her 2020 film <em>Hustlers</em>. As the tittle suggests, past Razzie nominees are considered for Redeemers after delivering outstanding performances in exceptional films. Although she lost her Redeemer award to Eddie Murphy, the recognition alone might’ve meant the Razzies’ opinion on Lopez was beginning to change. However, she wouldn’t remain in their good graces for long.</p>

<p id=”par-6_51″>After <em>Hustlers</em>, Lopez made a big comeback at the Razzies. She was nominated again for Worst Actress thanks to her performance in the Netflix thriller <em>The Mother</em>. But her Razzie nomination for the 2024 feature <em>Atlas</em>, which was another Netflix picture, might’ve been particularly heartbreaking if sources are to be believed.</p>
<p id=”par-7_58″>Similarly to <em>Gigli</em>, the feature received scathing reviews at a time when Lopez was in a controversial relationship with Affleck. Lopez was already <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/ben-affleck-jennifer-lopez-finalizing-divorce-wonders-relationship-source-says.html/”>going through a divorce</a> with the <em>Gone Girl </em>actor. So <em>Atlas</em>’ lackluster performance was just making a bad year worse, and insiders confided that it all began taking an emotional toll on the film’s star.</p>
<p id=”par-8_15″>“Jennifer is taking it very badly,” sources alleged to <a href=”https://radaronline.com/p/jennifer-lopez-another-showbiz-blow-raspberry-nomination-after-this-is-me-movie-bashed/”>Radar Online</a> about her Razzie nomination.</p>
<p id=”par-9_24″>“At this point, she feels like she can’t catch a break. Last year was by far the toughest of her life,” the insider added.</p>
<p id=”par-10_14″>The source further asserted that her self-esteem was hit the hardest during the ordeal.</p>
<p id=”par-11_6″>“Her ego is crushed,” they said.</p>
<p id=”par-12_48″>Lopez might’ve alluded to the experience in her <a href=”https://www.interviewmagazine.com/film/jennifer-lopez-tells-nikki-glaser-how-a-turbulent-summer-changed-her”>Interview</a> with Nikki Glaser. Opening up to the comedian, the <em>American Idol </em>host reflected on how much her life spiraled out of control. But despite it being a painful experience, Lopez had no regrets about her choices at the time.</p>
<p id=”par-13_97″>“That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did,” she said. “But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F***, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, god. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it. You had to hit me really hard over the head with a f***ing sledgehammer. You dropped the house on me. Don’t have to do it again.’”</p>
