How to play Google Search’s new secret Pokémon game

As we get closer to Easter, Google has decided to introduce a new secret Pokémon game.

To the surprise of its fans, the franchise has created a hidden browser game where you can search all 151 Pokémon from the Kanton region in the search engine.

Google revealed that searches for ‘Pokémon card’ reached an all-time high in February.

Accordingly, you can now try to capture them simply by searching names into Google’s search bar.

If you have successfully searched for one, you can then catch it by tapping the Poké Ball icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Once the creature becomes locked in the ball, it becomes part of your virtual Pokédex, which you can save your progress in your account.

For now, the Easter egg is only available on mobile devices, however, this may change in the future.

Once you catch creatures, you then have to play a game of ‘whose that Pokémon?’ to unlock their silhouettes.

In a statement, Michelle Chou, entertainment product manager at Google, said: ‘Keep testing your knowledge, and the superfans will be in for a surprise once they’ve collected all of them.’

Two weeks ago, it was revealed that a new line of Pokémon-themed Lego sets have been announced.

Lego and Nintendo’s first partnership was for the ongoing Super Mario line of Lego sets, which, rather than just being recreations of scenes from specific games, with ordinary brick-built minifigures, involve giant-sized Bluetooth figures and customisable courses.

They’ve also dabbled with sets aimed at adults, such as the upcoming Mario Kart model, as well as a 2-in-1 Legend Of Zelda creation.

Lego said in a statement: ‘This new partnership will bring the world of Pokémon to life in entirely new ways, allowing fans to build beloved Pokémon in Lego brick form.

‘For the first time, the Lego Group will be bringing the most loved Pokémon to life in a brand-new way, with play experiences that will delight new and existing fans alike.’
