The newest season of “Frieren” is finally almost here! Season 1 ended in March 2024 on Crunchyroll, so we’ve been waiting a long time to see season 2. Below, you’ll find all the details on how to watch “Frieren” season 2 online, including free links if you’re interested in trying a free trial on a streaming platform too.

The first episode of “Frieren” season 2 drops at 7 a.m. Pacific on Friday, January 16. In other time zones, that’s 8 a.m. Mountain time/9 a.m. Central time/10 a.m. Eastern time.

Crunchyroll Is Streaming Season 2 in the United States

In the United States, Crunchyroll will be streaming season 2 exclusively. A direct link to start watching the first English sub episode as soon as it’s available is here.

However, you don’t have to pay for Crunchyroll right away if you’d prefer to try it out first.

Crunchyroll offers free trials if you’ve never used the service before at this link.

The free trial lasts for seven days, and it will give you enough time to watch the first episode for free. (Or you can wait and sign up for the trial next week and watch two episodes while it’s free!)

This trial lets you choose exactly which ad-free premium service you want to test out. You can choose between three trials: Fan, Mega Fan, and Ultimate Fan. Crunchyroll gives offline viewing options, the ability to stream simultaneously on multiple devices, and quick access to shows not too long after they drop in Japan.

How to Watch ‘Frieren’ Season 2 Outside of the United States

If you’re not in the United States, you’ll have a different set of options for watching “Frieren” season 2. The official Frieren website in Japan provides an extensive list of all the streaming services you can choose from, including ones with unlimited viewing and other platforms that offer episodes free (but only for a limited time.)

The website recommends three services for those in Japan (and some other regions outside the U.S.) who want to watch free for a limited time:

Here are some of the unlimited streaming options the official site recommends (that aren’t free):

  • Netflix: According to the official Netflix Anime account on X, the new season will begin streaming on January 16, but only in select regions of Asia. In the U.S., you likely won’t be able to see it until about a year after it finishes airing on Crunchyroll.
  • Hulu: For those in Japan, you can watch the new season on Hulu. In the United States, Hulu likely won’t get season 2 until about a year after it ends on Crunchyroll (just like season 1.)
  • Disney+: This is also only available in Japan, not in the U.S.

The official website also recommends other streaming platforms in Japan, such as FOD, d Anime Store, DMM TV, Abema Premium, Lemino, Telasa, U-Next, Anime Times, and more.

In the U.S., new episodes will drop every Friday morning at 7 a.m. Pacific time on Crunchyroll.
