Hugh Jackman Goes Viral for Jumping Into Stranger’s Car to Escape Fans [VIDEO]

Only Hugh Jackman could go viral (again) for fleeing a crowd with charm and perfect comedic timing.

In a very “LOL” moment that’s circling online, the “Wolverine” star found himself in a real-life action scene after leaving his performance in “The Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes.” Yes, Jackman was cornered outside the Minetta Lane Theatre in New York City by a mob of overexcited fans who were waiting outside the stage door. Phones were raised, pens were in hand, and fans were ready for selfies and autographs!

Hugh Jackman Speeds Away

At first, Jackman handled it like a pro; we have to give it to him. He was seen graciously greeting fans and posing for photos left and right. But, as the crowd thickened and personal space clearly vanished, his expression immediately dropped from polite to pure panic. Video footage posted by Page Six shows Jackman walking through a narrow alley as the fan horde closes in. A security guard trails behind him, doing his best to keep things under control without pushing people away.

That’s when he quickly approaches a random black car with two men sitting inside. After asking where they were going, the man in the passenger seat said they were heading towards 6th Avenue, to which he immediately hopped on, leaving his poor security behind.

Yikes, poor dude. But honestly, we don’t blame the “X-Men” star; he looked visibly anxious while trying to find an escape route. While it’s clear the car wasn’t a Lyft or Uber, it’s still unclear whether the moment was staged or not. Judging by his expression, though, it seemed all too real. Hopefully, he made it safely to his next stop.

Hugh Jackman’s NYC Run and Drama

Jackman is currently starring in the two-person Off-Broadway production of “The Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes,” playing Jon. His character is described as a celebrated novelist and professor who becomes entangled with a younger student, played by Ella Beatty. The play, directed by Ian Rickson, runs through June 18 at the Minetta Lane Theatre.

Though he’s commanding the stage daily, it’s his personal life that’s been making just as many, if not more, headlines. Earlier this year, his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, officially filed for divorce in New York. This after the couple reached a private settlement, parting ways after being married for 27 years. They share two adopted children, Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19.

According to documents obtained by People, Furness filed on May 23, citing the date of separation as 2022. The divorce filing came months after Jackman confirmed their split in a joint statement in September 2023. “We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” it read.

But things got even spicier when rumors of Jackman’s alleged romance with Broadway star Sutton Foster began swirling. The two reportedly grew close during their time in “The Music Man” on Broadway. The couple officially went public a year after he and Lee announced their separation.

Whether he’s dodging rumors or dodging fans, Jackman sure knows how to keep things interesting. And let’s be honest, if you’re ever going to make a mad dash into a random car, at least make it look this good.
