Warning: spoilers ahead for the latest episode of Celebrity Traitors.
It’s the phrase I never wanted to say.
Cat Burns, one of the breakout stars of The Celebrity Traitors due to her under-the-radar plotting with fellow Traitors Jonathan Ross and Alan Carr, could be facing her dreaded demise far earlier than I thought she would.
I had singled Cat out as a potential winner from the beginning. But now, a rivalry between her and Jonathan is brewing, and I fear that she could wind up bearing the brunt of it.
After an excruciating six-day wait, the BBC series finally returned tonight, revealing that Charlotte Church was the latest victim to be murdered by the Traitor trio.
The Faithfuls were flabbergasted at breakfast when they realised that she’d been killed in the night by a horrifying banshee, a humanoid creature that gave me horrifying flashbacks to Doctor Who’s Weeping Angels.
Several people had previously been convinced that Charlotte was a Traitor. So her murder threw them out of whack… sparking a wave of fresh predictions and finger-pointing.
It seems that the celebrities have taken presenter Claudia Winkleman’s urgent warning to heart for them to stop being so darn polite. This episode proved one thing – the fight is on, no one is safe, and I’m ready for the no-holds-barred battle to commence as we reach the halfway mark.

In tonight’s challenge, the celebrities were tasked with answering questions about their fallen competitors for the chance to win up to £10,000. If they were wrong, they were snapped up in a trap, along with the money they’d hoped to secure with a correct answer.
Cue Alan being hilariously swept up into the air by a huge net, and Cat shockingly revealing that she has no idea who Vinnie Jones, Dame Helen Mirren and Dame Judi Dench are. A blasphemous admission, in my opinion.
Following the challenge, the stars all convened in various groups around the castle to chat about who they thought could be the Traitors. Nick Mohammed shared that he was looking at Kate Garraway due to always ‘dithering’ with her suspicions, seemingly taking this as a sign of guilt.
Sir Stephen Fry acknowledged that he was expecting an attack on himself, while also bringing up the fact that Jonathan would make a great Traitor, being a ‘superfan’ of the game.
I could imagine people across the nation screaming at their TVs, urging Sir Stephen to see this theory through and oust Jonathan out of the game for good.

Though I was adamant at the start that he’d be discovered quickly as a Traitor, given his smug demeanour and sneaky redirections, I’ve learnt not to underestimate the one known as ‘Wossy’, who has proven incredibly good at saving himself by the skin of his teeth.
During the roundtable, several names were bandied around. Mark Bonnar was in the hot seat, with people accusing him of being too overdramatic, and David Olusaga raised eyebrows for finally piping up now, having previously been a quiet observer.
And then, in a moment Cat likely never saw coming, Mark turned to her and said: ‘I’d love to see what Cat thinks.’
The singer looked utterly shellshocked, having played a brilliant game so far at creating a perception of herself as the young, innocent member of the group, while secretly murdering her peers in the dead of the night.

Earlier in the episode, Cat admitted that she was going to have to change her tactics, stating to the camera: ‘I think it’s time to start going with the group a bit more to save my back. This game is making me evil, but I’ve got to think of myself here.’
And so at the roundtable, lethal Traitor Cat turned to Sir Stephen and said: ‘I think it is kind of between you and Jonathan.’
There we have it, folks. The first instance of a Traitor targeting another Traitor at the roundtable during this series.
Jonathan, who’d been squirming when others brought up his name, straightened his back, a quietly irate expression dawning on his face. ‘This means war,’ his eyes appeared to say.
In the end, the vote resulted in Mark and David being tied for banishment. After one more vote, in which Mark and David couldn’t participate, they were tied again.
For the first time ever, the decision over who will be banished will be left to chance… an outcome that will be revealed during Thursday’s episode.
Cat bringing up Jonathan’s name was a bold but risky move. From her perspective, it makes a lot of sense. If she doesn’t join the bandwagon with other Faithfuls, especially when bringing up the ever more popular ‘big dog theory’, then she’ll arouse suspicion herself.
But she’s now put herself in the firing line. The Faithfuls are hungry to find a Traitor, and I fear that Jonathan is going to throw Cat under the bus for her betrayal.
I am not underestimating Cat as a player whatsoever. I think she has a fantastic strategic mind, and has pulled the wool over many people’s eyes (with the exception of Nick).
However, Jonathan’s track record of spreading gossip, planting ideas in other people’s heads and avoiding banishment could lead to a shocking bombshell of an exit.
I pray I’m wrong!
Celebrity Traitors returns at 9pm on BBC One, and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
