There’s no denying that Celebrity Traitors has blown away everyone’s expectations, not least comedian Lucy Beaumont.
The Meet the Richardsons star, 42, was one of 19 celebrities to grace our screens for the inaugural season of the BBC’s all-star version of the hit reality series, which ended in a phenomenal Traitor win as Alan Carr cackled his way to victory.
As a Faithful through and through, Lucy managed to dodge murder until one fateful evening, when she was summoned for an execution in plain sight, and discovered her close friend Cat had been betraying her this whole time.
From the sofa, the general public has been on the edge of their seat the whole season, watching to see if the Faithfuls could weed out the Traitors and delighting in the fiery dynamic between the cast.
But when she was up in the Highlands with Claudia Winkleman, it was difficult to see the wood for the trees, as she told Metro.
‘It’s been a massive show, hasn’t it. I thought it would, but nobody really knew. I think we all thought: “Would it be the same?”.
‘Because you’re not playing for a life-changing amount of money, would it have the same trepidation? But actually, you’re watching it for the game.
‘Everyone was so nice to each other. I remember thinking: “I wonder whether this isn’t going to be very interesting.” We’re mainly nice, there weren’t any arguments.’

She mentioned her total surprise at seeing comments discussing ‘tense’ moments because at the time they didn’t feel that way, especially compared to the US version, where they ‘really go for it’.
In fact, when she saw the leaked cast line-up, she had been worried that they would be made to argue even though she thought they were all ‘lovely’, so it was a big relief that this wasn’t the case.
‘You’re just left to play it. No one is intervening, I didn’t know how lovely and supportive they would be,’ she added, noting that they ended as a happy little family.
Although Cat was at the very bottom of her list of suspects, Alan wasn’t far behind, so she was utterly bowled over when she discovered it was him.
She called him a ‘highly intelligent man’ for playing a ‘plain sight’ strategy and completely evading her notice.
‘[I never suspected Alan Carr] simply because of the Paloma murder. We knew how much she wanted to stay in the castle, and they were genuinely, really good friends. You just think he wouldn’t, but it’s a game, and he was put on the spot. It was pure Traitor mode.’
‘There was nothing malicious behind but it meant that he got off scot free, no matter what he did.’
The most tense moment? Probably the coffin mission (which her hair never recovered from in the rain) that gave her ‘butterflies’ as she ‘didn’t want to go first’.
What charity did Alan Carr choose after winning Celebrity Traitors?
Which charity did he choose?
Alan Carr revealed his £87,500 prize pot will be donated to children’s cancer charity Neuroblastoma UK
What is Neuroblastoma?
According to the charity’s own website, ‘Neuroblastoma is classified as an embryonal tumour, a type of cancer that develops from the cells left behind from a baby’s development in the womb. The cells from which it develops from are specific cells in the nervous system called neuroblasts, giving neuroblastoma its name.’
What does the charity do?
The organisation is a research charity hoping to ‘lead to more effective treatments and ultimately a cure for every child diagnosed with the disease’.

And much like the rest of the nation, when Alan burst into tears after confessing his true identity and winning the £87,500 charity fund, Lucy was thoroughly moved.
As for what she’s learnt from her time in the castle, it’s truly made her appreciate her alone time, and days spent with family, which she craved all the more on her return.
In that spirit, Lucy has teamed up with Virgin Media for their ‘Joy of Missing Out’ campaign, encouraging Brits to swap nights out for nights in.
‘The best evening is just lighting a candle, having a lovely tea and watching TV and [you] just have such a better night’s sleep,’ she reflected.
As for what’s next for Lucy, she shares that while she loves appearing on TV, live shows are where her heart truly lies after 15 years as a comedian, always looking to ‘improve her craft’.
Although for those intrigued by her adventures on Celebrity Traitors, she has teased that new material is on the way for her upcoming shows.
With her podcast, Lucy and Sam’s Perfect Brains, and her appearance on the BBC series drawing in new, young audiences, she’s tapped into a whole new generation in recent months, beyond the listeners in their ‘mid-60s’.
Her greatest hope for 2026, however, is that a new travel show she’s filmed with her mum gets picked up by a network.
As she put it, after spending days in a castle with a whole host of comedians, she’s still not met anyone ‘funnier than [her] mum’.
