As per Daily Mail, her post followed a viral claim by French influencer Aqababe (real name Aniss Zitouni, 27), who shared and later deleted a message that falsely announced Bardot’s passing. The post even alleged that “her coffin was ordered,” calling her “an icon” who had “left behind an unforgettable legacy.”

The false report quickly spread across social media after Aqababe claimed to have “exclusive information” about Bardot’s death. French outlets like The Daily Mail and Var-Matin noted that the influencer’s post gained traction before being deleted.

Aqababe later doubled down, insisting that Bardot doesn’t manage her own social media. “I deleted my exclusive tweet about Brigitte Bardot’s death. It’s not her who manages her Twitter, you’ll see when the AFP officially announces the death,” he wrote in French.

Fans, however, were quick to celebrate Bardot’s response and express relief that the actress was alive and recovering at home.

The rumors followed Bardot’s October 16 hospitalization in Toulon, France, where she reportedly underwent surgery related to a “serious illness.” According to Var-Matin, the actress had been hospitalized for nearly three weeks before being released. On October 17, Bardot’s office confirmed to AFP via Reuters that the procedure had gone well. “Minor surgery” was performed, and Bardot thanked the medical staff at Saint-Jean Private Hospital in Toulon for their care. She added that she was now resting at her home in St. Tropez.
