I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2025 is still in its infancy, but Ruby Wax has already managed to cause a stir.
The renowned comedian is this year’s oldest campmate at 72, which, after decades in the industry, brings with it plenty of showbiz stories and infamous moments.
Her boisterous nature has already rubbed some viewers up the wrong way, with many taking to social media on launch night in frustration, demanding she be axed.
However, supporters of the ‘comedy goddess’ were quick to fight her corner, insisting that characters like her and a wide age range in campmates make I’m A Celeb what it is.

And those who have followed Ruby’s career will be no stranger to her loose lips and sharp wit, as she’s had her fair share of dicey A-list interactions in her time.
So, let’s revisit some of them, namely her unforgettable interviews with Donald Trump and Madonna.
When did Ruby Wax interview Donald Trump?
In 2000, Ruby interviewed now-US President Donald Trump as part of her series Ruby Wax Meets, which also featured chats with Tom Hanks, Liza Minnelli, and more.
It’s the Trump interview that remains arguably the most memorable, though, despite it being 25 years since the crossover occurred.
Ruby interviewed Trump prior to him pursuing a career in politics, meeting him very enthusiastically on his private plane.
Of course, she made the most of her opportunity to explore, marvelling at the gold sinks in the toilet and even bouncing up and down on his bed.
When the businessman arrived, they sat down on the red leather seats, Ruby somewhat setting the tone already by explaining she wanted to be on camera, so would prefer to sit next to Trump instead of opposite him.
From there, in a voiceover, Ruby admitted she experienced one of the ‘most excruciating moments of [her] career’ which ‘did not feel good’, Trump pretty standoffish before the questions had even been asked.
Informing her that he was not going to play up to the comedic routine, Trump proceeded to speak about American politics and said he wouldn’t be considering running for office if he didn’t think he could ‘do a really good job’.
After this, the camera started shaking, prompting Trump to stop speaking and Ruby to ask: ‘You wouldn’t talk to me if the camera wasn’t here?’
He replied, insisting that he would, calling her a ‘very attractive woman’ when she argued she ‘wasn’t [his] type’.
Things got dicey, though, when Trump began making his excuses.
‘We have to take off… I’m going to go upstairs,’ Trump said. ‘That’s enough; I have a headache.’
Ruby boldly asked: ‘Do you hate me?’, to which he countered: ‘No, I think you’re fine, but that’s enough.’
The whole thing was very nails on a chalkboard, but for no one more so than Ruby, who was ultimately thrown off The Apprentice star’s jet.
What has she said about it since?
Ruby has already name-checked Trump during I’m A Celeb, saying in her intro VT that she’ll ‘never forget’ their meeting.
She also told ABC News Breakfast of the ordeal: ‘He hated me.
‘Because I wasn’t coming on to him sexually. So he couldn’t put me in place.
‘The first thing that came out of his mouth was he wanted to be president of the United States. So I thought, this guy is a comedian.
‘So he threw me off the plane in Arkansas.’
Fortunately for Ruby, she was able to win Trump over in an off-camera moment: ‘We were in a car together, but you don’t see that. And he told me what he likes to do with women, thinking that he would shock me.
‘But I shocked him back, so then he started to like me. Because I became as animal as he did.’
Ruby Wax meets Madonna
Ruby interviewed pop icon Madonna in 1994 as she promoted her Bedtime Stories album. Alas, things didn’t go much better.
Thankfully, the Vogue hitmaker was more forthcoming with her answers, having even agreed to be interviewed on the bed in her hotel.
However, she immediately began giving instructions about camera angles, with Ruby later describing her as ‘defensive’.
Speaking to Heat last year, Ruby recalled: ‘She kept saying which camera she wanted.
‘I had to make sure she wasn’t insulted, because she was ready for an insult or a hardball question to be thrown. She was totally defensive, and that’s not a way to do an interview.’
When asked how she maintained rapport, she explained: ‘I tried to make her laugh, and then I tried to take her seriously, except I was doing an entertainment show, so I had to keep it funny.
What is Ruby Wax famous for?
Ruby Wax is a comedian, TV writer, and performer. She’s been in the entertainment industry for over 25 years.
She’s also long spoken candidly about her mental health struggles, having been awarded an OBE for services to mental health in 2015.
‘She was answering me in a kind-of snide way and not being honest.’
‘I can only be honest, so it was a car crash,’ Ruby confessed. ‘I think, in the end, she thought I was funny in a goofy kind of way. But she couldn’t get serious.’
Ruby had been hoping to ‘bond’ with the performer but instead felt she was ‘hated on sight’.
Let’s hope she has better luck in her fireside chats with her I’m A Celeb campmates!
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
