EastEnders legend Tameka Empson has revealed the hilarious moment that caused the Celebrity Traitors WhatsApp group to blow up.
The 48-year-old star was brutally banished from the BBC reality show last night, becoming the second celebrity to leave—a huge loss for us all.
Tameka was voted out by her fellow Faithfuls with just four votes, following a pointed charge led by Scottish actor Mark Bonnar.
Her stay at Ardross Castle was short but sweet. And while she arguably missed out on the full experience, she did witness one unforgettable moment: British actress Celia Imrie farting in an enclosed space, surrounded by fellow national treasures—and in front of millions of viewers.
‘I’m so sorry. It’s nerves. But I always own up!’ Celia pleaded to a startled Claudia Winkleman.

‘Fart-gate [is really popping off]’ Tameka told Metro. ‘It started yesterday, and it was still going this morning. Everyone, everywhere I look, everything I’m doing—I’m just seeing serious farts!’
‘I was there, live, in the kitchen. But you know what? She’s letting people know that it’s better out.’ Amen to that.
Tameka said the WhatsApp group is as lively as you’d expect—but given her early exit, she’s just like the rest of us: trying to avoid spoilers.
‘There’s so much going on,’ she said. ‘But we’ve been quite good because I don’t know what’s coming up—I don’t want to know!’
Tameka’s banishment felt particularly brutal—almost like a freak accident—considering how few votes it took to send her home so early in the game.
Mark appeared overwhelmed with guilt at the reveal that she was a Faithful. But months later, Tameka isn’t exactly rushing to forgive the Dept Q star.
With some hesitation, she responded to Mark’s reaction.
She said: ‘Yeah… well… what do I say? It is a game, and you go with your gut. Some people had it out for me, but I was really stunned at how quickly Mark got people on his side. Before that, I hadn’t really interacted with Nick [Mohammad] or Charlotte [Church].
‘I was a bit taken aback by that, if I’m honest.’
The entire cast reunited earlier this month for a private screening of the first episode in London—it was the first time they’d all come face to face since mercilessly backstabbing each other in hopes of winning thousands for charity.
When asked if she’s spoken to Mark since her banishment, Tameka said bluntly: ‘I saw him at the screening and gave him a hug… yeah.’
Tonight, more players will be either banished or murdered from the castle. As it stands, Jonathan Ross could be the next target for the Faithfuls, while Joe Wilkinson, Charlotte Church, and Ruth Codd are on the chopping block for murder by Traitors Jonathan, Alan Carr, and Cat Burns.
Tameka also revealed who she thinks is the dark horse of the competition.
‘The shocker for me is Cat Burns. She’s amazing. She’s got the balance just right—there’s a little softness, and because she reminds me of my youngest sister as well, maybe that would’ve swayed me a bit. But seeing what she’s doing now… I mean, hindsight is a thing…’
