The second season of a hit horror TV series is streaming in full now on Amazon Prime Video after being hailed ‘even better’ than the first installment.
The Creep Tapes, based on the Creep films created by Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice, began on Shudder last year.
Following Josef (Duplass) – or whatever name he goes by these days – we take a trip into his terrifying cabinet of VHS tapes that chronicle his murderous spree, with the serial killer luring in a different victim each episode and recording it all.
The first season was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews, with a second greenlit soon after.
In fact, before season two began, a third season of The Creep Tapes was confirmed by Shudder.
Following the airing of the sixth and final episode of season two – which saw Josef confronted by an erratic figure from his fast – horror hounds can now binge the entirety of both seasons over their Christmas break.
The second season of The Creep Tapes holds a 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, with many fans also calling it an improvement on its predecessor, which also holds a high 77% score.
In their review, Next Best Picture said: ‘Brice’s direction, as well as his and Duplass’ overall creativity in building the world of this franchise, is so strong — and it is intrinsic to shaping this stark vision for bringing something fresh to the world of found footage.’
Daily Dead added: ‘It’s a darker, more delicious season that pokes fun at the serial killer subgenre, digging deeper into the horrifying recesses of a delusional mass murderer’s psychology.’
Bloody Disgusting wrote: ‘The Creep Tapes’ 2nd season is a solid upgrade from its freshman year. These 6 new episodes channel the tension and terror of the first season, but through surprising and subversive storytelling that seeks to challenge found footage and horror as a whole.’
On X, several fans shared how they felt the horror show was the ‘best thing’ to hit Prime Video, while others commented how completely ‘insane’ the entire series was.

‘Creep Tapes finale was completely insane. What. At no point could I take in what was happening. The more I learnt, the less I understood,’ Hometownoftears began.
‘I want to know what everyone else thinks abt it. Why was it so funny at times?! I was uncomfortable AND entertained, which is all I can ask for.’
MissSharai added: ‘The Creep Tapes remains the best footage franchise and it’s not even close. The CCU’s (Creep Cinematic Universe) second season looks like it’s going to continue doing the good Lord Peachfuzz’s work and we are welcome!’
In October, it was announced that The Creep Tapes would return for a third season in 2026.
Speaking to Filmhounds Magazine, co-creator Brice explained how it will be a while before the series confirms any hard and fast lore about its central character, instead opting to keep his backstory vague.
‘Part of the fun of the movies and the show is trying to decipher what’s real and what’s not,’ he began. ‘Everything is real to Josef; everything that he says is true to him, but whether it’s true or not, in reality, is another situation.
‘We’re definitely adding some solid ground in this season. But even then, we’re going to be peeling back on some pre-established ideas that you thought were set in stone in the first season.
‘We’re going to be dancing around that for a while, or at least as much as our audience tolerates, and then we’ll dive into some hard and fast reality at some point, but we’re still having fun.’
