Keanu Reeves is setting the record straight after rumours surfaced that he had secretly married his longtime girlfriend, Alexandra Grant.
At the New York City premiere of his new film Good Fortune on Monday, the Matrix star lovingly shut down the speculation.
‘Well, that wasn’t the first time,’ he joked, referring to the persistent wedding chatter. ‘We’ve been going out for a long time.’
Grant herself recently addressed the marriage rumours on social media after congratulatory messages began flooding in.
Sharing a light-hearted post, she wrote, ‘I’m sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding. Except we didn’t get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here’s a bit of real happiness!’
Reeves praised Grant’s calm and gracious response, telling E! News that his partner ‘did a wonderful [job]’ in shutting down the speculation. ‘The wedding, it’s a nice thing,’ he added.
‘People did a lot of nice messages and stuff, but Alexandra just did a wonderful [job] addressing. Like, “Thank you, but here’s the reality”.’
