A ‘suffocatingly tense’ four-part thriller is now available to stream after being added to ITVX.

Starring Line of Duty’s Anna Maxwell Martin, Hollington Drive was originally broadcast on ITV back in 2021.

However, after being added to the broadcaster’s streaming platform, fans can now binge the ‘gripping’ psychological tale about a 10-year-old boy who goes missing.

Telling the story of two sisters, Theresa (Martin) and Helen (Detectorists star Rachael Stirling), their lives are thrown into chaos after the young boy’s disappearance.

A synopsis of the series reads: ‘Sisters and social pillars within the community, Theresa and Helen struggle to hold their lives and their families together in the wake of this tragedy.

‘Secrets and lies begin to surface and long held facades falter as grief rips through Hollington Drive.’

The series also features The Bay’s Jonas Armstrong, Sex Education’s Jim Howick and Amelie Bea Smith, who is the voice of Peppa Pig.

Taking to IMDb, fans praised the show’s storyline, with Bryanpwo writing: ‘The story really gets under your skin and you can almost litterally feel the sufficating tension in your gut and neck as the storyline progresses.

‘The acting, also by the young cast, really fits well with the storyline.

‘Every single detail, the pristine styling of the wardrobe, hair and houses, screaming that there is something brewing under that calm surface is on point!!

‘The cinematography is beautiful and enhances the tension of the story very well.’

NKUAnnie added: ‘I found the story to be intriguing and interesting. I kept watching to see how it was going to end.

‘Is it murder? Suicide? Did the children do this? The plot twists kept me engaged.’

Meanwhile, loveagoodstory argued: ‘The story is strong, the acting across the cast excellent and the programme well directed. I enjoyed watching it.’

In its review, The Guardian also claimed that Martin is a ‘perfect glum mum’ and the series is a ‘fine addition to the suburban nightmare-trove’.

However, some viewers complained that the series was underwhelming, like CarolynOcean who said: ‘I hate to say it ,but this is probably the worst drama that I have seen in a while, I can’t believe how bad the plot was!’

SkyHawk747 also wrote: ‘I managed to watch all four episodes hoping it would get better but sadly it deteriorated with every episode.

‘Apart from the nice scenery and houses that’s all you will get that’s pleasant. The acting at times is pretty bad and the plot which could have been played out much better ends up being hollow.’

Hollington Drive is now available to watch on ITVX.
