“Supernatural” sure knows how to bring co-stars together in real life. We have Jensen and Danneel Ackles, Rob Benedict and Ruth Connell, Meg Donnelly and Drake Rodger, Mark Sheppard and Sarah Sheppard, DJ Qualls and Ty Olsson, and yes, Jared Padalecki and Genevieve Padalecki.
The last two are definitely no exception. Especially after they like to remind fans how strong of a marriage they have. Like this week. Jared just turned 43, and his wife, Genevieve, made sure the world knew how loved he is. How? With a kiss, a convertible, and a carousel of memories that has fans crying into their flannels.
A Little PDA for Fans!
On Saturday, July 19, Genevieve posted a heartfelt Instagram tribute to her husband of 15 years. “Almost 17 years together, 15 married,’ she wrote on Instagram. “What a privilege and gift to wish @jaredpadalecki another year around the sun. I love you with all my heart. Grateful to celebrate you today. â¤ï¸”
The photos were definitely a mix of goofy, glamorous, and intimate. One shows them cracking up mid-sentence, another has them riding in a drop-top, wind in their hair straight out of a CW romance. And yes, thereâs a full-blown kiss picture that had fans losing their minds in the comments. One wrote, âHappy birthday sam, yes I said samð you and ruby (@jaredpadalecki @genpadalecki ) have a beautiful family and absolutely beautiful kiddos!! Who knew yalls parts in supernatural would lead to a marriage and decades together.â
But this birthday post is just the latest chapter in a love story thatâs been unfolding since “Supernaturalâs” fourth season.
A ‘Supernatural’ Love Story
Letâs rewind to 2008, shall we? Jared was already an established heartthrob as Sam Winchester on “Supernatural” when Genevieve (then Cortese) joined the cast as Ruby. She was a demon in lacy underwear, as Jared famously recalled.
âI was a single dude, and she was a pretty girl in her underwear on her first day on set,â Jared revealed at a convention in 2012. âI was very excited to meet her. Meanwhile, I think she was like, âWho is this long-haired a-hole who thinks he can talk to me while Iâm reading a book?ââ
Despite that rocky first impression, sparks flew. They started dating in fall 2008, got engaged the following year, and tied the knot in Idaho on February 27, 2010.
Since then, theyâve built a life that includes three children, Tom, Shep, and the adorable Odette, along with a herd of mini horses, chickens, and even a taxidermied chicken that lives in their guest bathroom. Yeah, we’re not asking about that; we know better.
Love, Laughter & a Little Bit of Dirt
What makes Jared and Genevieveâs love story so irresistible isnât just the CW beginnings or the red carpet appearances. Itâs their balance of glamour and grit. For their honeymoon? They hiked Machu Picchu, and they have repeatedly said they enjoy kayaking and food truck dates. You know, just down-to-earth things that make them the couple they are today.
