In April 2025, Jazz Chisholm Jr. came under fire after he tweeted following a Yankees game. While Chisholm was suspended for a game for violating MLB’s social media policy, fans can’t help but wonder what the league is doing about the bullying Chisholm Jr. blew the whistle on. The second basement went viral recently for discussing how poorly he was treated during his early years as a Miami Marlin.
In March 2024, New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. revealed that he had been bullied. He said the hazing occurred during his years with the Miami Marlins. During an appearance on <a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOo8rvWZgeI” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>the Pivot Podcast, Chisholm described instances where teammates, particularly infielder Miguel Rojas, targeted him for his individuality. Clips about the alleged hazing have circulated on TikTok as the MLB season got underway.

During the podcast appearance, the baseball player revealed that a veteran had destroyed several pairs of his custom cleats. He said the first incident happened a week into his first season with the Marlins. Chisholm Jr. admits he retaliated after the incident. He called the first three years of his MLB career the worst years of his life.

Chisholm Jr. didn’t name the veteran who bullied him. Still, he gave away enough information for fans familiar with the lineup at that time to figure out who he was pointing the finger at. Fans were quick to guess Chisholm was speaking about Miguel Rojas, a shortstop who played eight seasons with the Marlins. Rojas was traded to the Dodgers after the 2022 season. The second baseman moved on from the Marlins in 2024. He currently plays for the New York Yankees.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. and his alleged bully, Miguel Rojas, have both moved on from the Miami Marlins, but they aren’t moving past their problems silently. Rojas, now playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, responded to Chisholm’s allegations. Rojas appeared on<a href=”https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-chris-rose-rotation-mlb-players-podcast/id1555532184″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”> <a href=”https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-chris-rose-rotation-mlb-players-podcast/id1555532184″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Chris Rose Rotation shortly after Chisholm Jr.’s interview went viral. His sentiments did little to suggest he didn’t bully the then-rookie Chisholm Jr.

During his appearance, Rojas did not deny what his former teammate had outlined. He said that people need to “respect” what goes on in the clubhouse and that they need to expect to be held “accountable” by veterans. Rojas went on to suggest that, despite Chisholm Jr. not liking him, he had no right to discuss what went on inside the organization. He also suggested he had a different recollection of what transpired but opted not to share his version of events.
