Jenna Bush Hager Gets a Fresh New Haircut Live on ‘Today’

Jenna Bush Hager got a trendy bob haircut live on “Today” on June 16. Bush Hager was joined on the show by actor Leslie Bibb whose blonde blunt bob became the latest trend when she debuted it on “The White Lotus” season 3. 

The creator of Bibb’s look was celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan who also originated the iconic “Rachel” cut featured on Jennifer Aniston on “Friends.” Bush Hager was in good hands on “Today” as McMillan was the one cutting her hair and giving her helpful styling tips. 

“Bobs are like spring cleaning,” McMillan said, explaining that the cut can get rid of damage and overgrown layers. He also said that Bush Hager’s new style could be versatile, as she could wear it wavy, straight, or slicked behind her ears.

While Bush Hager was a good sport, allowing McMillan to give her such a drastic cut live on the air, it was clear she was just a little nervous. But Bibb was on hand to cheer her on, telling her, “You’re so cool, you are so cool,” as Bush Hager sat in the chair and prepared to have her locks chopped. 

Bush Hager told Bibb she’d inspired her as she gamely sat still and let McMillian make the first cut. Bibb handed Bush Hager the locks that had been chopped so she could see just how much McMillan was taking off. He explained it was necessary to cut higher than the shoulders to avoid what he called “the flip.” “A comment that I get about bobs is like, ‘I love a bob I just hate when it flips,’” he shared. 

When Bush Hager freaked out a little, exclaiming, “Whoa that’s so short! Is it gonna be that short the whole way?” Bibb reassured her, saying “This is so exciting…Jenna, it’s so pretty!”

How Did the Haircut Come Out?

McMillan began cutting Bush Hager’s hair towards the end of the show, continuing through a commercial break. While viewers could see the beginnings of the new look, it wasn’t finished when the show wrapped up. 

“Tomorrow, you guys, tune in and you’ll see the full look,” Bush Hager said, announcing that Bibb would also be back in the studio along with her partner, actor Sam Rockwell. “Thank God because I’m gonna need her!” Bush Hager said, looking a little unsure but definitely excited about her new style. We can’t wait to see the results!
