Iconic actress and ‘DWTS‘ alum Jennifer Grey became a screen sensation after starring opposite Patrick Swayze in 1987’s Dirty Dancing. Now, fans and collectors have a chance to purchase a piece of history by bidding on the briefs she wore beneath her costume for one of the beloved film’s hottest scenes.

The high waisted pink briefs are being auctioned on the memorabilia site Propstore which also has a tuxedo jacket up for bidding which was worn in the film by Jack Weston, who portrayed Max Kellerman.
Grey’s valuable underpants were worn by her character, Baby, in the scene where Johnny Castle teaches her the mambo, per TMZ. The auction site says the keepsake has been previously displayed at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Las Vegas.
As of May 24, 2025, the current highest bid sits at $275, but 17 days remain for potential buyers to jump into the race.
The movie’s costume designer, Hilary Rosenfeld, spoke in an August 2022 interview with The A.V. Club about how she brought the world of the 1960s to life despite budget constraints.
“Typically, a low-budget indie like this would try to use existing clothes, but there were so many restrictions in terms of the movement; dancing scenes that things had to be done in multiples,” she recalled.
She said she carefully considered each character’s personality when making her selections, citing Baby’s rebellious nature and Lisa’s contrasting traditionality.
She also spilled that a sizeable portion of the film’s astoundingly small $6 million budget went to Patrick Swayze’s shoes. “They had to be custom-made. He had a place in L.A. that made his shoes, and he wanted them to fit perfectly and they did. So I compromised on other things,” she dished.

Grey was partnered with Derek Hough for season 11 of ‘DWTS,’ which aired in 2010. An ABC News report published in November that year revealed the onscreen icon competed with a ruptured disk in her back. The injury was bad enough to put her in the hospital the night before her final dance.
“I did not think I was going to be able to dance,” the report says she told GMA.
The back injury came on top of prior neck problems. Grey has not only undergone surgery on her neck due to a thyroid cancer diagnosis, but also suffered a neck injury in a 1987 car crash, per the story.
Grey ultimately battled through the pain to win the Mirrorball Trophy. The win made her partner, Derek Hough, the reality contest’s first three-time winner.
