Jennifer Lawrence reveals cosmetic surgery plans in frank new interview
Hollywood superstar Jennifer Lawrence has never been shy or dishonest when it comes to talking openly about herself, as her latest confessions during a chat with The New Yorker prove. The Oscar-winning actress admits that she is considering cosmetic surgery to enhance her breasts – not for a role, but simply out of personal choice. ‘Maybe I wouldn’t be hustling to the appointment in the same way if I wasn’t an actress,’ she said. The actor, married to art dealer Cooke Maroney, welcomed her second baby in March. While her first pregnancy left her feeling like a ‘superhuman balloon that deflated and sprang back,’ she admitted that her second hasn’t been quite as forgiving on her body. She laughed about the prospect of filming an explicit scene in an upcoming project next spring, confessing the timing might have something to do with her cosmetic surgery plans – though she insists she’d go through with it either way. The star of films such as Mother! and Joy spares no punches in the chat, remaining refreshingly honest about having had cosmetic procedures, and detailing her plans for more. She confessed that she has had Botox but stopped short of fillers, which she deems too noticeable on camera. ‘I can’t freeze my face,’ she said, pointing out that she needs movement in her forehead in order to deliver convincing performances onscreen. But Lawrence went on to reveal that she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a facelift. ‘Believe me,’ she teased, ‘I’m gonna!’ (Picture: Amy Sussman/Getty Images)
Her unusual frankness doesn’t stop there. Lawrence also revealed that her second child is a boy, confirming the news months after rumours swirled online. She and Maroney are already parents to Cy, born in 2022, but the arrival of her second child was very different, with Lawrence admitting she struggled with post-natal depression this time around. ‘I thought every time he was sleeping he was dead,’ she explained. ‘I thought he cried because he didn’t like his life, or me, or his family,’ she added. ‘I thought I was doing everything wrong, and that I would ruin my children.’ Her doctor prescribed Zurzuvae, a new medication developed to treat postpartum depression and anxiety. Lawrence says it helped her feel more stable – and less like she was failing at motherhood. (Picture: Swan Gallet/WWD via Getty Images)
Lawrence felt so desperate on one occasion that she even turned to ChatGPT for breastfeeding advice – which ultimately left her in tears. The chatbot told her, ‘You’re doing the most amazing thing for your baby. You’re such a loving mother.’ Instead of comforting her, it made her doubt the sincerity of everyone else who had told her the same thing. ‘If a robot tells me that,’ she said, ‘then maybe nobody really means it.’ (Picture: Rocco Spaziani/Archivio Spaziani/Mondadori Portfolio via Getty Images)
Lawrence also reflected on how anxiety has shaped her life, both personally and professionally. ‘I feel like I am driven by anxiety,’ she said. ‘When I was a kid, I soothed it by trying to be good, trying to do the right thing, so that I wouldn’t upset God or my parents.’ The self-awareness seems to have softened her public edge, and she now speaks more freely about mental health. Despite this, Lawrence says motherhood remains the most intense joy she’s ever known. She once told Vogue that when Cy was born, ‘It felt like my whole life had started over.’ She still calls the experience ‘euphoric,’ even when paired with exhaustion and self-doubt. Between the sleepless nights and her own personal struggles, it seems Jennifer Lawrence is determined to tackle both motherhood and Hollywood entirely on her own terms.
