Jennifer Lopez Needed Stitches After AMAs Rehearsal Injury

Jennifer Lopez is, as usual, giving everything she’s got to make her upcoming American Music Awards (AMAs) hosting and performing gig memorable to viewers. Unfortunately, the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer may need to tone things down after revealing that she injured herself during rehearsals, leading to a nasty nose gash that required stitches.

She Shared the Painful-Looking Cut on Instagram

Lopez posted several photos on her Instagram stories on May 13, revealing her AMAs rehearsal mishap. In one, she has a nasty, red cut on the bridge of her nose. The area around her nose and cheek is red and swollen, and at the bottom, she reveals where the incident happened.

In another picture, she’s seen with a small smile as she applies an ice pack to her face. The words “So this happened…” are across the screen.

But all is well when you have a plastic surgeon ready and waiting for your call. In her last photo, a smiling Lopez stands beside a man in a “Dr. Diamond’s Metacine” T-shirt. Below their photo reads: “Thank you for stitching me up, Dr. Diamond. A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”

In the final photo, the cut is so cleanly stitched up that you can barely see any hint of the trauma left on her face.

Lopez Last Hosting the AMAs Again After 10-Year Absence

On April 9, the AMAs announced that Lopez would host and perform at the 2025 show. “We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards,” said Jay Penske, CEO, Dick Clark Productions. “Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show.  We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick off celebration of summer.”

Lopez has spoken highly about the American Music Awards’ meaning to her. “Winning a fan-voted award is incredibly special because it’s directly from the people,” she said when reminiscing for the AMAs 50th Anniversary Special.

When it came to hosting, she went above and beyond to ensure it was spectacular for viewers. “I decided that I was going to change for every time I came out there,” she said. We did this dance medley to all of these amazing songs from that year, and I wanted everyone to feel that love and energy.”

“And maybe I’ll do it again one day, who knows?” she had added with a coy smile. Now we know she was hinting at things to come.
