Actor Jensen Ackles just casually confirmed heâs back for âTrackerâ Season 3. And you guessed it⦠fans are already losing it. On Tuesday, July 29, the âSupernaturalâ alum posted a quick video to Instagram that doubled as a lowkey promo and a major tease.
Tease Level: Expert
The video (seen above) is captioned, âGood to be back in actionâ¦â and features Jensen sitting on the steps of a trailer. He starts off by panning the camera up to show the name on the trailer, âRussellâ then he plugs the newest episode of his Amazon Prime series âCountdown.âÂ
Only to say a quick, âeventuallyâ and pan the camera back up and over to reveal a second trailer with the name âColterâ on it. Thatâs it. No big announcement. No dramatic music. Just Jensen doing what he does best⦠giving fans just enough to scream about.
The new season premieres Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 9/8c on CBS. Out of the loop? âTrackerâ follows Colter Shaw (played by Hartley), a reward-seeker who travels the country tracking down missing people, dodging danger, and occasionally unpacking decades of family tension; yâknow, as a treat.
Jensen Posts, Reddit Spirals
Reddit users over on an r/jensenackles thread were quick to connect the dots. One fan wrote, âYes! I figured he’d be back early in the season, before Vought Rising starts filming in a few weeks.â Another added, âThis man is always busy! Excited to see him back on Tracker! His dedication is admirableðâÂ
Viewers really arenât holding back on their excitement. One summed it up perfectly: âYES!!! I love [the] Shaw brothers so much! Can’t wait! Justin and Jensen have delicious chemistry ðâ
For anyone who missed it, Jensen first appeared as Russell (Colterâs estranged older brother with cowboy energy, unresolved trauma, and a knack for showing up at the most inconvenient times) in âTrackerâ Season 1, Episode 12, then returned in Season 2, Episode 2. His arc left a lot of questions dangling, and now it looks like Season 3 is ready to pick up the thread.
Cast Shakeups Ahead
Season 3 isnât just bringing Jensen back; itâs making some major cast changes, too. According to Deadline, Abby McEnany (Velma Bruin) and Eric Graise (Bobby Exley) are leaving the series ahead of the new season. Theyâll join Robin Weigert (Teddi), who exited after Season 1. No word yet on how (or if) their departures will be explained onscreen, but thatâs a lot of goodbye in one go.
Back in June, Justin Hartley also teased that Season 3 will âget into the nitty gritty,â according to People, even going so far as to hint at a possible storyline where Colter may be set up. Combine that with the unresolved family drama and a shady new figure introduced at the end of Season 2, and yep; itâs looking like this seasonâs big bad might hit way closer to home.
Translation: expect more drama and tension than ever before.
As for how often weâll see Ackles? CBS hasnât dropped specifics, but it seems like the series is primed to keep bringing him back. So maybe, just maybe, these appearances aren’t cameos⦠theyâre telling a story.
Whether you’re in it for Hartleyâs smolder, Jensenâs denim drama, or just the potential for some Shaw family chaos, âTrackerâ Season 3 looks ready to cause problems (and we love that for us).
