Jimmy Kimmel has taken aim at ‘Donald Jennifer Trump’ after he praised the importance of free speech at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards.
The late night host won the award for Best Talk Show at the ceremony in California, which also saw Timothee Chalamet take home the gong for his role as Marty Mauser in the recent Marty Supreme film.
Last year, the 58-year-old’s programme was briefly pulled off the air in September when he made comments following Charlie Kirk’s death about the ‘MAGA gang’ trying to score political points.
Trump has repeatedly called for the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host to be fired after he was vocally critical of the US Government and its supporters numerous times.
But, after accepting his award at the Critics Choice Awards, Kimmel joked that he owed the win to his nemesis ‘Donald Jennifer Trump’, saying: ‘A FIFA Peace Prize would have been better, but this is nice, too.’
Thanking his wife, Molly McNearney, who is the show’s co-head writer, Kimmel acknowledged the support he he received from the late-night community after Jimmy Kimmel Live! was temporarily suspended last year.
He said: ‘Thanks to all the writers and actors and producers and union members. Many of you were in this room who supported us, who really stepped forward with us, and reminded us that we do not take free speech for granted in this city or in this country.
‘Your actions are important, and we appreciate them.’
He then proceeded to mock Trump, 79, thanking him for ‘all the many ridiculous thins you do.’
