Jinger Duggar Reveals Which Disney Movie Is Banned in Her House

Jinger Duggar has relaxed many of the ultra-strict rules that her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, employed when she was growing up. But it’s not exactly “anything goes” in the home she shares with husband Jeremy Vuolo and their three kids.

When Jinger was a kid, most secular movies were off limits, including many Disney classics, which were seen as promoting magic, she said in the December 10 episode of <a href=”https://youtu.be/8zYfF1c2T_0?si=Fy_LnErc74FXI73b” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast. While most people wouldn’t bat an eye at films like The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, Jinger’s parents wanted to protect their 19 children from what they saw as dangerous and potentially “demonic” influences.

Now a mom herself, Jinger isn’t quite so intent on keeping her kids insulated from the outside world. The mom of three does let her children watch certain Disney movies, she said. But there’s one title that isn’t allowed because she thinks it has un-Christian themes.

“There’s one show I won’t let our kids watch … It’s like the green princess dress. I don’t even remember her name, but it’s with the frog and the princess dress. Is it Tiana? I don’t even know,” Jinger said, referencing the Disney animated film The Princess and the Frog.

“See, I don’t even remember. But I watched a section of it one time, and it goes into voodoo, and I’m like, ‘I’m not gonna let my kids watch that because I don’t believe that that’s true.’ I don’t want them thinking that’s good,” she explained.

“But when it comes to Mickey, and there’s this magic, there’s some of that that seems pretty harmless,” she added. “. . . There’s something OK with just letting kids be kids.”

Jeremy Vuolo thinks some Disney movies have the wrong message

Unlike Jinger, Jeremy grew up consuming mainstream media. But as a dad, he said the themes of some Disney movies give him pause.

“But then you even said with the other princess, you go, ‘Man, this is just too much.’ Or even with Mickey sometimes, and you go, ‘So is there this undercurrent of influence?’” he said to Jinger.

“I heard a parent talking the other day about the princess themes of Disney movies and how, if you really think about it, Disney characters, like the main characters in Disney movies, are rewarded for disobeying their parents,” Jeremy continued. “And it’s so often the parents coming back to them at the end of the movie, going, ‘You were so right. Thank you for saving all of us. We’re glad you didn’t listen to us.’ And you start seeing certain themes emerge. And I don’t think that’s crazy conspiracy.”
