Osbourne’s Family Announced His Passing

The family announced his passing on Tuesday, July 22.

The statement read: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

It continued, “We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.” It was signed by his wife Sharon Osbourne as well as four of his children, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.

Osbourne was 76 at the time of his death. Though the cause of death was not disclosed, the rock icon was very open about his battle with Parkinson’s disease. He revealed in 2020 that he was suffering from the disease.

The Prince of Darkness was the father of six children. He shared two children, Jessica and Louis, with his first wife, Thelma Riley. He also adopted Elliot, whom Riley had from a prior relationship. He went on to marry Sharon Osbourne in 1982, and they had three children—Aimee, Kelly, and Jack.

The Black Sabbath frontman gave his last show, dubbed the “Back to the Beginning” show, on July 5 in his hometown of Birmingham, England. The event raised over $190 million for charities.

Tributes Pour In

Since news broke, tributes to the “Crazy Train” singer have flooded social media.

Singer Elton John shared how sad he was about hearing about his friend’s passing. “He was a dear friend and a huge trailblazer who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods — a true legend,” he shared on social media. “He was also one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.”

Actor Jason Momoa, who hosted Osbourne’s farewell concert, shared an image of the two and wrote, “Love you @ozzyosbourne All my aloha @sharonosbourne and ohana. So grateful. RIP.”

Singer Yungblud performed at the show and issued his own touching statement. “I didn’t think you would leave so soon the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room,” he wrote.

He added, “But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t. I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage. Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own.”
