Jonathan Scott is marking a milestone moment with fiancée Zooey Deschanel.
The HGTV star posted a video on Instagram celebrating the sixth anniversary of the day the two lovebirds met.
Jonathan Scott tells the camera that the pair met August 4, 2019 filming an episode of “Carpool Karaoke” with Jonathan’s twin brother Drew and Zooey’s sister Emily Deschanel.
“The four of us, we had so much fun. We hit it off right away. Zooey and I hit it off right away,” the Property Brother says in the video post.
“This is a day that I love to celebrate. It’s our ‘meet-a-versary’- that sounds kinda weird but, meet-a-versary? Sure, why not,” he laughs. “We hit it off so fast and have had so much fun,” Jonathan reminisces.
Jonathan goes on, telling his followers how that fateful day changed his life. He says, “A couple of years ago we got engaged atop Edinburgh Castle, but being in this relationship, never in a million years would I have known this is where I would be. But life takes you on those paths. And being a bonus dad is my favorite thing in the world and makes me so happy. I want to make sure that these guys have every opportunity that they can have.”
And while Jonathan does apologize for making up the term “meet-a-versary” and promising to come up with a better name, he makes no apologies for his loved up post.
“I am sappy and nostalgic and I love finding any reason to experience some joy, and August 4th brings me so much joy,” he tells the camera.
Carpool Karaoke Started a Wild Ride for Jonathan & Zooey
Zooey Deschanel was at the wheel for “Carpool Karaoke” on the day she and Jonathan Scott met in 2019.
But in an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in 2023, Zooey revealed that she had no idea what was about to happen.
Drew asked, “So, like, when you went to work that day..?” Zooey chimed in, “Did I know? No!” Drew responded, “Did you know your whole life was gonna change?” “No,” exclaimed Zooey, “No, no I didn’t. I just couldn’t believe he was so nice… He’s like the nicest person. You know, people just aren’t that nice, generally.”
Zooey went on to tell Drew Barrymore, “We’ve been together for over three years and he’s still that nice. He goes over and like, fixes stuff at my parents’ house. He’s so nice. He really is.”
Jonathan & Zooey Returned to ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Two Years Later
In his Instagram video celebrating the big “meet-a-versary,” Jonathan Scott tells followers that “Carpool Karaoke” had just he and Zooey come back a few years later to do a “Where Are They Now” episode.
“Won an Emmy,” he tells the camera.
The Instagram post isn’t the first time Jonathan’s gotten what he calls “sappy” about his true love.
In 2020, he told People, “We literally make each other laugh nonstop. I have never been in a relationship where my partner is as romantic as, if not more romantic than, I am. Iâm usually the one who carries the romantic load.â
He went on, âSheâs smarter than me, sheâs funnier than me, and sheâs cuter than me! Sheâs a very considerate person, and thatâs what Iâm looking for. I had said before that the most important thing for me was a sense of humor. But you have to be kind, and she definitely is.â
