Horror fans have been raving following the trailer release for the upcoming film Him, produced by Get Out mastermind Jordan Peele.
Directed by Justin Tipping from a screenplay co-written with Zack Ackers and Skip Bronkie, the sports horror film stars Tyriq Withers as up-and-coming American football player Cameron Cade.
Invited to train at the isolated compound of a legendary former Quarterback (Scary Movie star Marlon Wayans), Cameron finds himself questioning the cost of greatness as his training begins… as does his Faustian descent into darkness and mania.
The trailer’s delirious, blood-soaked visuals include what appear to be Satanic symbols, people clad in animal heads, and a series of dark rituals.
As viewers unpacked the trailer, some likened what they were seeing to a cross between The Substance and Whiplash, with a bit of Midsommar thrown in for good measure.
All that, and a terrifying Marlon Wayans, looking only a little bit more unsettling than he did in White Chicks.

Fans shared their reaction to the trailer drop on the social media site X.
‘Sacrifices, fame, and a Jordan Peele-produced mind trip? Yeah, this one’s about to ruin my sleep and I’m into it,’ wrote Giii_014.
‘When I first heard about this story I thought it sounded TRASH. But I have to admit this trailer is pure fire. I’ll be seeing this day one,’ said SlanderedOne.
‘Jordan Peele + horror + twisted fame? Count me in. September 19 can’t come soon enough,’ agreed Cinegasm.
‘Yeah this is about to be one of the best horror movies,’ added Dieggo.
‘This is The Substance for dudes,’ noted realonx1.

In addition to Tyriq and Marlon, the film will also star Uncut Gems star Julia Fox, comedy actor Tim Heidecker and controversial Australian comedian Jim Jefferies.
At a CinemaCon presentation on April 2, stars Marlon and Tyriq took to the stage to introduce footage from the film.
As Marlon jokingly likened it to the heartwarming 1993 sports drama Rudy, Tyriq shot back, describing it as ‘nothing like Rudy’ – promising ‘something ‘that burrows under the skin’ instead.
As the trailer was posted to Instagram, Marlon shared the cryptic comment: ‘Bro… it’s different.’

It couldn’t be more different to the star’s most well-known work – controversial 2004 comedy White Chicks and the first two films in the Scary Movie franchise.
Last year, the star confirmed that he would be writing and starring in a reboot of the horror spoof, along with brothers Keenen Ivory Wayans and Shawn Wayans.
Marlon shared the news as he posed with their Ghostface parody, announcing: ‘WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!
‘We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again.’
Him is in UK cinemas from September 19.
