Josh Brolin is taking accountability for something he feels he did wrong, and he penned a genuine and heartfelt message on Instagram about animal welfare on Sunday, October 12.

The “Brothers” actor posted a photo of himself wearing a white T-shirt, a green blazer, and matching trousers. This week, he attended a film event for the third installment in the “Knives Out” franchise titled “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.”

In the caption, Brolin shared his thoughts. “First and foremost, my apologies to my mother for my not educating myself in recently wearing a clothing line that has anything to do with the fur trade or anything that involves the hurting animals in any way shape or form,” he began his message. 

He continued, “This is not in response to anything anybody is suggesting or ‘making me do’. It is simply a slap to my ignorance and laziness out of respect for my mother who was a major animal activist totally against the fur trade in every way. She would scream at people on the street and there was anti-fur literature combing the walls of our home during my whole upbringing. My apologies to those who are sensitive to this, my faux pas.” He continued to write that his fashion mishap was down to his “own laziness” and was an attempt to wear anything other than a jeans and T-shirt combination. 

Brolin concluded his message with a statement, writing, “Berluti will not longer be worn by me.” He is referring to the French leather maker, known for its menswear. When Berluti saw Brolin wearing their menswear, they celebrated his decision.

On October 9, Berluti posted a photo on Instagram of Brolin wearing the same outfit. In the caption, they wrote, “New client, the iconic @joshbrolin in @berluti for Knives out 3.”

Fans React to Josh Brolin’s Fashion Mishap

Fans have reacted to Brolin’s post, addressing his comments about avoiding the brand and why he viewed his outfit as problematic. Many fans have applauded him for his decision to speak out. “Love the self-accountability. No one canceled the man; he wanted to do this,” a comment on the post reads.
