Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are off the hook! In a significant courtroom development, a federal judge has dismissed Justin Baldoniâs headline-making lawsuits against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times.Â
Baldoni sued Lively, claiming she “falsely” accused him of sexual harassment to protect her own reputation after the controversy surrounding the “It Ends With Us” press tour, where she was said to have taken charge of the film.

According to a report in PageSix, on Monday, June 9, Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed both the $400 million countersuit filed by Baldoni and the Wayfarer parties, as well as the $250 million defamation suit against The Times. The lawsuits alleged extortion and defamation tied to Lively’s December 2024 complaint, but the judge wasnât convinced by the arguments presented.
Baldoniâs Legal Team Has Until June 23 to Amend Certain Claims
While the lawsuits have been dismissed, the judge left the door open for Baldoni’s team to amend claims related to breach of implied covenant and tortious interference with contract, but only until June 23. Baldoniâs attorneys have not commented while the story was being published.
Meanwhile, Livelyâs legal team, including Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, spoke to Deadline, welcoming the outcome as a “total victory and a complete vindication” for everyone involved.

As per a report viewed by People, the statement said. “As we have said from day one, this ‘$400 million’ lawsuit was a sham, and the Court saw right through it,” “We look forward to the next round, which is seeking attorneysâ fees, treble damages, and punitive damages from the Wayfarer parties who perpetrated this abusive litigation.â
Whatâs Next for Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni?
Despite the dismissal, the larger legal battle between Lively and Baldoni isnât over. Lively is suing Baldoni over claims of sexual harassment and retaliation, which he denies.
In March, Lively dropped two claims â emotional distress and negligence â calling the move âroutineâ to streamline her case.
Her trial against Baldoni is scheduled for March 2026, and both are expected to testify. Earlier this year, Baldoniâs lawyer, Bryan Freedman, spoke to US weekly and criticized Livelyâs move to dismiss the countersuit:
âStringent rules are put into place to protect the innocent and allow individuals to rightfully defend themselves… Laws are not meant to be twisted and curated by privileged elites to fit their own personal agenda.”
The Times has maintained its stance in its coverage, stating, âOur story was meticulously and responsibly reported.â
