Julia Roberts may be dazzling at the Venice Film Festival in a string of glamorous gowns, but she also took time out for romance. The 57-year-old actress shared a rare glimpse into her private life on Friday, posting a behind-the-scenes Instagram photo with her husband, Danny Moder, during their stay in Italy.

Robert’s Sweet Moment With Husband

The sweet snapshot showed Roberts resting in Moder’s lap as the two embraced on a quiet boat ride through the canals.

“Venice [love heart emoji],” she captioned the post, capturing the couple wrapped in each other’s arms, relaxed and smiling as they enjoyed their romantic evening together.

Before her cozy date night, Roberts walked the red carpet for the premiere of her new film, “After the Hunt,” on August 29, marking her Venice Film Festival debut.

The Oscar winner stunned in a custom Atelier Versace gown designed by Dario Vitale, the brand’s new creative director.

The navy crepe gown featured a handcrafted damier motif embroidered with black silk thread, perfectly complementing the elegance of the evening. Roberts posed with director Luca Guadagnino and her co-stars Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri, and Chloë Sevigny as cameras flashed along the carpet.

Roberts and Moder tied the knot in July 2002 and share three children: twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and son Henry. Despite her global fame, the actress has kept her marriage relatively private. Moder, a cinematographer, has worked on projects like “Ibiza,” “Animal Kingdom,” and “The Normal Heart,” which earned him an Emmy nomination.

In a 2024 interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Roberts gushed about her family. “The life that I’ve built with my husband. The life that we’ve built with our children, that’s the best stuff, to come home at the end of the day triumphantly to them,” she said.

A Lasting Romance After 20+ Years

Roberts often describes motherhood as her favorite role, even over acting. “It’s just never consumed me, being an actor,” she explained. “It is my dream come true. But it is not my only dream come true.”

At the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, Roberts revealed a sweet detail about her romance with Moder. “The first time I ever danced with my husband was almost 25 years ago to a Dave Matthews Band song,” she said. “That was a winning combination as I have been swooning over my husband and this band ever since.”

Now, more than two decades later, Roberts and Moder remain as close as ever, splitting their time between work and family life at their $8.3 million estate in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights.

Their latest Venice outing proved once again that for Roberts, the real magic happens off the red carpet.
