“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer. Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible. We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories,” she wrote.

A Dreamy Proposal

Speaking to New Idea, he shared how the proposal unfolded mid-flight with the help of his daughter, Madison. “When we got on the plane, I told Maddy that I wanted to propose to Kelly in Paris, but I wasn’t sure we were going to get there,” he recalled. “So I said, ‘Do you think maybe we should propose on the plane together?’”

Kelly said yes, and not long after, the couple tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Lake Tahoe — a scenic, snow-kissed spot nestled between California and Nevada, surrounded by mountains and pine forests.

A Proud and Loving Father to Madison McMahon

Julian’s daughter, Madison Elizabeth McMahon, born June 10, 2000, was the light of his life. Madison is a professional volleyball player who won a gold medal at the 2017 Pan American Cup.

Madison is also known for her athleticism—she played varsity volleyball at Marymount High School in Los Angeles and competed with top club teams like Sunshine and SCVC, according to godeacs.com. She was recruited by several universities for both indoor and beach volleyball, though she hasn’t pursued a high-profile sports career.
