At 15, the young man — who now goes by his middle name, Elliott — has publicly come out as gay and announced his new name on his mother’s podcast, <em><a href=”https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/from-isaac-to-elliott-a-story-about-identity-and-boundaries/id1609536155?i=1000711796603″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Barely Famous</a></em>. Elliott’s journey from reality TV to self-discovery reflects his evolving identity and desire to separate from his MTV past. </p>
<p id=”par-3_36″>“I started going by Elliott, because at some point, I wasn’t happy with my first name,” he said on the June 6 episode of his mother’s podcast. “It just doesn’t feel like me in some way.”</p>
<p id=”par-4_81″>In addition to revealing his name change, he came out as gay. “Happy Pride, everybody!” he said. “I’m very nervous for this episode. I’m here today to show you who I am, not who you saw on TV for 12 years of my life. It’s very important to me because I feel like growing up on TV, it’s hard to show who you really are when a camera is in front of you all the time. It’s harder to be yourself.”</p>
