Kate Upton Welcomes Baby No. 2 With Husband Justin Verlander

On June 19, Kate Upton and her husband, Justin Verlander, welcomed their second child together, a son named Bellamy Brooks Verlander. The news was first reported by TMZ. 

Upton and Verlander, a pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, also share a 6-year-old daughter, Genevieve. After Genevieve, nicknamed Vivi, was born, Upton revealed that she was finding a balance between motherhood and work. “…it’s kind of nice to like, bust out of the house a little bit…but it’s always sad, I always miss her,” she shared with Extra in 2019.

The model also said that she and her husband were not quite ready to expand their family yet, explaining that the pain of childbirth had not yet faded from her memory. “I’m like, ‘I’m just sleeping through the night now,’ so it’s still fresh in my mind.”

Upton, who was linked to “Dancing With the Stars” pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy in the past, began dating Verlander in 2014. The couple tied the knot in November of 2017 in a romantic ceremony in Tuscany, one of the first places they’d vacationed together. A year later, the couple welcomed their first child.

Verlander had nothing but praise for his wife, telling Us Weekly, “She’s been the most amazing woman and mom.” He added, “I knew that she would set a great example for our daughter, no matter what. It’s the person that she is, it’s the person who I married.

Upton has expressed that once she found love with Verlander, there was a lot of pressure to get things moving. “It starts when you’re dating. ‘When’s the ring coming? When are you guys getting engaged?’” the model told People in 2024. But she wanted to simply enjoy her life with her man. “You’re like, ‘Can I just be in the moment?’”

According to Upton, her daughter Vivi and Verlander are very much alike in one specific way. “They both love a rule, and they will follow it,” The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model told People

While Vivi is a “big rule follower,” she also likes to have fun and express herself. “She loves to dance and have a good time, and she loves to be in the moment,” Upton said, adding, “I think she gets that from me.”

Vivi also shares a love of fashion with her model mom. “She loves to get dressed with me. I think she has better style than Justin and I, so she picks out all her own clothes,” Upton revealed.
