Keanu Reeves was back out in New York City this week, just days after an unsettling encounter with a fan outside his Broadway show. The 61-year-old actor looked calm and collected as he ran a few errands in the Big Apple on Thursday.

Keanu Reeves Keeps It Cool After Broadway Scare

Reeves kept things low-key, wearing black trousers, a blue hoodie, and a brown blazer layered over the top, in photos published by the Daily Mail. He wrapped a bright red scarf around his neck and paired the look with brown boots and a printed cap. Carrying a black backpack and a reusable DoorDash bag, the “John Wick” star looked like any other New Yorker going about his day.

The relaxed outing came not long after Reeves found himself in a frightening situation outside the Hudson Theatre, where he’s currently starring in Waiting For Godot, directed by Jamie Lloyd. Over the weekend, a woman claiming to be his “divine wife” tried to approach him as he left the theater.

In videos shared on social media, the woman could be heard yelling, “Keanu, it’s your divine wife!” before trying to open the door of the car he was getting into. Security quickly stepped in to stop her, dragging her away as she continued to shout.

Fans Praise Reeves’ Calm Demeanor

Even as chaos unfolded, Reeves stayed composed. He smiled and waved to fans at the stage door before quietly slipping into his car to head home. Witnesses nearby could be heard urging security to “get her out of here,” while one person filming said, “You guys need a restraining order on this one.”

The woman was eventually pulled to the ground and escorted away, but Reeves didn’t react publicly or show any anger. Fans online have since praised how he handled the moment, calling him “graceful,” “professional,” and “the definition of calm under pressure.”

Reeves has stayed focused on his stage work, playing Estragon in the classic play. While one critic from The New York Post said he seemed “stiff” in his Broadway debut, audience members have shared a different story—posting glowing reviews and calling the show “an emotional triumph.”

Through it all, Reeves has continued to do what he’s always done: stay kind, keep working, and avoid the drama. As one fan put it on X (formerly Twitter), “Even when people act wild, Keanu stays cool. That’s why everyone loves him.”
