<p id=”par-2_42″>On August 8, the Poosh founder posed a series of snaps from a family trip to Idaho to her <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DNG-QVNyFad/?img_index=11″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram</a>. In one photo, she cradled her <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/kourtney-kardashian-travis-barker-rumored-want-baby-via-surrogate-soon-2025.html/”>21-month-old son, Rocky Thirteen</a> as they rode in a speedboat. Neither was wearing a life vest. </p>
<p id=”par-3_10″>Concerned followers quickly called out <em>The Kardashians </em>star’s parenting decision.</p>
<p id=”par-4_13″>“Please, please put a life jacket on that sweet babe!” one person wrote. </p>
<p id=”par-5_34″>“What no life vests? Isn’t that against the law….???” another asked. (In Idaho, children under 14 <a href=”https://parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/park-activity/boating/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>must wear a life vest</a> if they are in a moving boat less than 19 feet in length.)</p>
<p id=”par-6_44″>Kourtney’s defenders pointed out that she was breastfeeding Rocky in the photo, and that she had likely removed his life jacket for that reason. An item that looked like it might be a child’s life vest was visible in a corner of the photo.</p>
<p id=”par-7_16″>“The life jacket is literally next to them… let her hug her baby,” one person commented. </p>

<p id=”par-8_18″>Whatever the specifics of the situation, Kourtney soon responded to people who were concerned about her son’s safety. </p>
<p id=”par-9_16″>“Update: bought a life vest that fits!” she wrote in an Instagram Story post on Saturday.</p>
<p id=”par-10_19″>“Good looking out,” the mom of four continued, adding that she “honestly didn’t think about some of the dangers.” </p>
<p id=”par-11_28″>“Thank you for making me aware and hopefully this helps make other mommies aware of the dangers of certain types of boating without a life vest,” she wrote. </p>

<p id=”par-12_58″>The warnings Kourtney received came after several recent high-profile boating accidents. In June, eight adults died after their boat capsized in Lake Tahoe. The two survivors were wearing life jackets, <a href=”https://abc7news.com/post/lake-tahoe-boat-accident-life-jackets-capsize-josh-pickles-door-dash-victims/16849849/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>authorities said</a>. In March, a family in Florida, including multiple children, died in a boating accident. No one in the vessel was wearing a life jacket, <a href=”https://people.com/child-remains-missing-after-family-died-when-boat-capsized-11702909″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a> reports. </p>
<p id=”par-13_44″>Kourtney’s not the first celeb to come under fire for lax water safety practices. Last year, commenters on TikTok (via <a href=”https://www.today.com/parents/celebrity/paris-hilton-son-life-jacket-boat-rcna168816″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Today</a>) took <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/paris-hilton-reveals-birth-first-child.html/”>Paris Hilton</a> to task for letting her toddler son Phoenix play on a boat without a life vest. She defended her choices. </p>
